Wow!  Look at the cost of a repair on a vehicle today.  For example, a person could spend up to about $300.00, if the person repairs the passenger side brake system on a 2016 GMC Acadia--if the person buys such parts as a set of brake pads, a wheel rotor, and a brake hose and then does the removal work and installation work for the self.  By the way, if things like brake lines and bolt heads have not been tarred, the person might have to replace brake line and bolts, which have rusted.  Remember--I have a video at the channel for "The Hologlobe Press" on YouTube that urges DIY mechanics to tar up brake things, but I add that, if someone at a shop has to work on the brakes, such as in an emergency event, the someone may balk at doing any work, not eager to remove tar from bolt heads, though removing tar--even that of five years of age--can be done easily by using a sharp wood chisel, which I have done and do.  I have to add how jackass it is that brake pads can seize up in the guides, and I note that recently I had to use a big punch and a hand sledge to knock out some pads of a wheel area.  Let me shift my thoughts about the expense of repairs on vehicles.  Where I live in the Detroit area, I live in a corner house.  I can sit on the porch and see traffic stop at the stop sign, and, every once and a while, I see people run the stop sign--blow right through the intersection.  While I sit on the porch, I often see those vehicles that shut down if the drivers do not move along soon enough (before the vehicle shuts down).  I think the system that shuts down the vehicle is a jackass idea.  Consider--Every time the vehicle shuts down, the driver of the vehicle then has to restart the vehicle.  That means there is more wear and tear on the starter and starting system.  Yes, that means things wear out sooner, if a person uses the shut-off system. hoping to save money or the planet?  If a person has to change a starter sooner than otherwise, that is more wear and tear on the pocket book.  I know not how much it costs to replace a starter on a vehicle with the shut-off system, and I am not going to look it up.  A problem can be, if a person has a vehicle that has to have other things removed from the vehicle, such as exhaust pipe, before the starter can be removed, then that person can expect a large repair costs.  I would not be surprised if costs can be--to replace a starter (and any addition things)--well above $500.00.  I wonder if the cost could get near $1,000.00.  A person who plans to buy a use vehicle from a seller (such as a dealer) or the current owner and that vehicle has the shut-off system, the person has to wonder whether or not the shut-off system was used regularly, and if it was, then the person has to wonder if there will be a big expense in the near future to replace the starter.  Years ago, a person who was buying used cars did not have to think much about the starters in the used vehicle, since starters were usually easy to remove and install.  And that is my introduction to this edition of Michigan Travel Tips, which costs you nothing.

Warning announcement!  Because of incidents at schools for children and incidents at other places for people in general tied to "Sharia" or "Islamic Law" or even the religion/political system known as "Islam," I now regularly have this paragraph as a part of each edition of Michigan Travel Tips.  The governmental system of the United States of America based on The U.S. Constitution and "Sharia" or, informally, Islamic law, are not compatible and cannot co-exist, and one reason is "Sharia" (et cetera) is a political system, in which there is one-party rule, and that one party is basically made up or controlled by religious leaders who base all the ways of their culture or society on "Sharia" or "Islamic Law."  Those who uphold and practice "Sharia" have no tolerance for the existence of Christianity or Buddhism or Hinduism or non-religion, and that is a fact, and "Sharia" is a political system in which women are second-rate human bodies and in which clergy can be involved in determining  business transactions, and there is no "freedom of speech" tied to politics in a society related to "Sharia."  When you travel around Michigan and in other states of the country, watch for signs that rotten people are trying to teach you or family members, especially children, that "Sharia" is good and "Allah" is good and teach you or family members that the United States of America is bad and that, for instance, Christianity and Buddhism and Hinduism are bad, which I have evidence is happening and which is being brought about by people who are clearly working to make "Sharia" a dominant political system in the world (it is a political system as rotten as socialism and fascism and communism are, since it promotes violence and thuggery and coercion, and it promotes killing of non-followers behind the face of religion and a god, Allah).  By the way, a society based on "Sharia" really creates nothing in the long run and does not advance the human society as a whole since it is too busy suppressing the ideas of people and keeping the ideas of the society based on ways of only a few minds up front (the political leaders), whose main purpose is to keep themselves enriched through the work of others, the many--it is a gang-run society really.  Yes, if you run across people pushing the idea that Muslim stuff--particularly the true The Quran and not the translations of The Quran that are faked to hide the true nature of Islam--is better than the U.S. is, especially to little children, go public and make it known to other good people and fight back against it.

Normally, Michigan Travel Tips documents report on tourist attractions that can be considered normal, such as museums about cars, art, preserves, fish hatcheries, amusement parks, restored houses or castles, lighthouses, parks, and statues, and now I get to the unexpected, and it is a simple note, which finally has made it to my files.  At Lansing, there is a place called the REO Town Marketplace, the address to which is 1023 South Washington, and the place is not far from River Front Park, Scott Park, and Elm Park.  For this edition of Michigan Travel Tips, I present a place that is open, generally speaking, from noon to 5:00 p.m. on a Thursday-through-Sunday basis--"The Otherside Paranormal & Mortuary Science Museum."

Let me expand on the previous paragraph.  There are various types of museums, and, in some cases, a person can wonder whether something called a museum is really as museum.  At Alpena (of Alpena County of the Lower Peninsula), there is a place called the Besser Museum, which has been around for decades.  Recently, a new section of the museum was set up, and it is called "The Discover Northeast Michigan History Exhibit."  The focus is on real history of the northeastern region of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan.  To see that exhibit is what is truly a museum, you go to 491 Johnson Street--at least at times between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. from Monday to Saturday (the place is never open on Sunday). Oh, the place has a planetarium called the "Sky Theater."  You should understand that the Besser Museum is a true museum.  Now, let me take you to Detroit (of Wayne County of the Lower Peninsula).  On Friday, November 21, 2025, a place called the "Museum of Illusions" opened, and it had a grand opening on December 21, 2025.  Okay, there is "museum" in the title of the place, but it is not a place with artifacts, such as Indian arrowheads or old photographs of a particular city or town or village.  Basically, it is a business, which reminds me of the "Mystery Spot" (of St. Ignace of Mackinac County of the Upper Peninsula) and "Mystery Hill," which is at Onsted or, in essence, in the "Irish Hills" area (of Lenawee County of the Lower Peninsula).  By the way, Mystery Hill is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day on a Wednesday-through-Sunday basis, and the hours are always from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m..  "Mystery Hill," "Mystery Spot," and "Museum of Illusions" are fool-the-eye places or fool-the-mind places.  For example, at the Museum of Illusions," there is an exhibit that makes it look as if a person is climbing a wall.  The sizes of things gets confused in the minds of people who go to such places as the so-called museums.  The three places are not really true "museums"; they are tourist attractions, and there is an admission fee at each.  At the Museum of Illusion, the cost to enter for an adult is $22.00.  Currently, the Museum of Illusions is located at 1545 Woodward Avenue, and the open times are from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m..

    Enjoy your traveling in Michigan!

    Stay well!
