The summer of 2023 is long gone, andt I am ready for the coming year and winter because what I did in the summer of 2023, such as get vehicles ready for the winter and the forthcoming year, and I report I regulary drive three vehicles in a year--a 2016 GMC Acadia, a 2014 GMC Terrain, and a 2000 Saturn SL-1.  Some of the work that I did on the vehicles was to check the underneath areas of the vehicles; for example, I tarred up the suspension area on the back part of the Terrain and I did rust killing work, painting work, and tarring work on the small portions of the back wheelwells of the Terrain.  On the Acadia, I simple looked over things and put tar on spots sort of in the middle of vehicle underneath that I had not worked on in the past.  In essence, I did nothing on the Saturn. I do have to report that, really, the vehicle is not a Saturn--It is a Corvette.  Keep in mind the idea being pushed by shit people today, and that idea pushes forth the crap that people can change from one sex to another through surgery and chemicals.  That is shit!  It is not possible. Everyone who believes that change can be made is shit!  I will report that in face-to-face action.  But I can sort of play along with the theme, here.  I say that my Saturn is a Corvette.  Basically, the Saturn does not have a metal body, which can rust out, and that is the way of a Corvette.  The Saturn has bucket seats, and Corvettes have bucket seats.  The Saturn has the shifter on the floor (in the middle of the passenger area), and that is what a Corvette can have.  The Saturn has air-conditioning, and a Corvette can have air-conditioning.  The Saturn is about as big as a Corvette is, and, for example, the Saturn is not a tall car, like the Acadia.  See what I mean?  I have a Corvette!  My Corvette is not rusting out underneath, since about two decades ago I first tarred up the underbody and suspension stuff, and I have done touch-up work over the years.  The Terrain and Acadia are in good shape, too.  By the way, for years, I have tarred up the lips on the insides of doors and trunks and hoods of metal-body cars so that I can keep vehicles looking nice.  So when I do traveling in Michigan, I do it in an Acadia or a Terrain or a Corvette, and I enjoy my traveling, and I hope you enjoy this edition of Michigan Travel Tips, which might give you at least one idea of some place to see in Michigan.

Warning announcement!  Because of incidents at schools for children and incidents at other places for people in general tied to "Sharia" or "Islamic Law" or even the religion/political system known as "Islam," I now regularly have this paragraph as a part of each edition of Michigan Travel Tips.  The governmental system of the United States of America based on The U.S. Constitution and "Sharia" or, informally, Islamic law, are not compatible and cannot co-exist, and one reason is "Sharia" (et cetera) is a political system, in which there is one-party rule, and that one party is basically made up or controlled by religious leaders who base all the ways of their culture or society on "Sharia" or "Islamic Law."  Those who uphold and practice "Sharia" have no tolerance for the existence of Christianity or Buddhism or Hinduism or non-religion, and that is a fact, and "Sharia" is a political system in which women are second-rate human bodies and in which clergy can be involved in determining  business transactions, and there is no "freedom of speech" tied to politics in a society related to "Sharia."  When you travel around Michigan and in other states of the country, watch for signs that rotten people are trying to teach you or family members, especially children, that "Sharia" is good and "Allah" is good and teach you or family members that the United States of America is bad and that, for instance, Christianity and Buddhism and Hinduism are bad, which I have evidence is happening and which is being brought about by people who are clearly working to make "Sharia" a dominant political system in the world (it is a political system as rotten as socialism and fascism and communism are, since it promotes violence and thuggery and coercion, and it promotes killing of non-followers behind the face of religion and a god, Allah).  By the way, a society based on "Sharia" really creates nothing in the long run and does not advance the human society as a whole since it is too busy suppressing the ideas of people and keeping the ideas of the society based on ways of only a few minds up front (the political leaders), whose main purpose is to keep themselves enriched through the work of others, the many--it is a gang-run society really.  Yes, if you run across people pushing the idea that Muslim stuff--particularly the true The Quran and not the translations of The Quran that are faked to hide the true nature of Islam--is better than the U.S. is, especially to little children, go public and make it known to other good people and fight back against it.

I am a television historian--the best Detroit television historian in the country (and the world and the universe) and maybe the best national television historian.  Being a television historian, I am well aware MeTV has aired a series called Collector's Call, featuring Lisa Welchel as host.  One show of the series was about pinball machines, and that show was not about the pinball-machine museum of Michigan, a somewhat new thing.  The place that is in Michigan is the Playable Pinball Museum, which is located at 1517 Capital Avenue (which is, in essence, the Pennfield Plaza) of Battle Creek (in Calhoun County) of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan.  Given the producers and makers of Collector's Call have already done a show about a pipball-machine collector, it seems very unlikely the producers and makers will go to the Playable Pinball Museum and make an episode.  You can go there, though, but you will have to gon on a Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on a Saturday or Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., when the "playable" museum is open.  Be aware--The museum does have an admission charge  Okay, I am not a big-deal threatical-movie historian, but years ago, I did take at least on class at Wayne State University that focused on movie history, and at the class, I was old movies, such as The Birth of a Nation, and I am well-aware of movies of the past, such as by cataloging what movies were shown on television stations in the Detroit area from 1947 to today, under dozens and dozens of umbrella titles, such as Drive-In Theater, Good Neighbor Theatre, Sunday Startime, The Eight O'Clock Movie, Tarzan Theatre, Boot Hill, and First Run Theater, and I have book about old movies and movie performers, such as one about character actors.  I have a status report here.  It looks as if the"Robocop" statue, which is based on all the "RoboCop"-themed movies and television series (several), is still standing at Eastern Market in Detroit.  Hold it!  The statue is yet not on public display; it is, in essence, yet hidden away.  Maybe, the statue will become visable to the public in 2024.

And now I have a travel story, starting about a week before this document was published.  On Friday, December 1, 2023, a neighbor telephoned me.  He was dead in the water along US-2 a little to the east of Naubinway and about 35-miles west of the famous Mackinac Bridge (in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan), and, really, he was not dead in the water--his vehicle was sort of without water.  A coolant hose was leaking badly, and there was steam coming off the engine.  I was some eighty miles away from him.  He reported that he already called his insurance company and that a towing vehicle was supposed to be on the way, and he asked me to call the towing place to see if someone was indeed on the way to get him because he did not have the telephone number for the towing place, and he said he has been waiting for a while.  He wondered if the vehicle should be towed home or to Cheboygan, such as the parking lot of Walmart, where it might be worked on.  I said--I go by the rule that notes that you get the "baby" home, where it will be safe.  I called the towing place.  By the way, there is not much at Naubinway.  The gal at the towing place said that the run was cancelled, since my friend could no be found--at the Mackinac Bridge.  Something went wrong between the insurance company and the towing place in relation to directions.  I hung up with the towing company and waited a few minutes for my friend to call again (which he had been told to do by me).  I told him to call the towing place and the insurance company and set up the towing job again.  In the end, he and his vehicle were picked up, and that wasted some three or four hours.  He did report that several persons stopped by his broken down vehicle to ask if the could help, and he said those types of stops can still happen in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan because of the culture in the region and the people in the region.  On Saturday, December 2, 2023, we went to Cheboygan, and we got heater-hose-type material and a few others parts and supplies, and on that day, I made the repair, and it was good the vehicle was at his residence, since I needed a Dremel tool (using electicity) to remove the old hose set-up.  Oh, I have reported that Naubinway does not have much, which is commonplace for many little towns in the Upper Peninsula.  However, it is the site for a famous museum.  The museum is the Top of the Lake Snowmobile Museum, which is loaded with old snowmobiles, some of the most recent editions of which--33 machines--arrived at the place in March 2016, and they came from the J. Armand Bombardier Museum of Valcour, Quebec, Canada.  I see that the annual Mackinac Bridge run of old snowmobiles and such (an event for the museum) is scheduled for December 9, 2023, and that is the last big events of three for the year, and it seems the recent swap meet at the place went well.  The website for the Top of the Lake Snowmobile Museum notes that swap meet for next year--involving all types of recreational and sport items--will take place on September 21, 2024.  The Top of the Lake Snowmobile Museum of Naubinway is open throughout the year, and the hours are nine to five daily [but it might be closed on some holidays in the coming year since things can change].

    Enjoy your traveling in Michigan!

And keep aware of the rotten people in Michigan.

    Stay well!
