Okay, I know how to install gas piping in a house and water piping in a house, and one reason for that is my father was involved in, for example, teaching me a bit about gas-pipe installation and water-pipe installation (and I learned more later), and my father--as a draftsman--was involved in drawing up gas-pipe lines and water-pipe lines for buildings and such related to General Motors Corporation, such as in the 1970s and 1980s, and, by the way, he had been a surveyor for natural-gas installation a couple decades previous. When I was young, my father pointed out that there was no reason to get worked up about having lead-supply lines to a house. For one, the line was really short, and, in addition, the water that went through the supply pipe was cold (in the 40-degree range or so) so lead would not leach out well from short lead supply pipes. It takes warm or hot water to have noticeable leaching of lead into water supplied to a house. I have to note that there are houses that have had lead supply lines for some one-hundred years in the Detroit area, and yet the life span of people has gone up, and there has been no big problem with people having high lead levels related to water. Over the last several decades, there has been talk--at least in inner cities with a lot of blacks--that lead in old paint (that used before roughly the 1990s) has gotten into children, such as black children, and the idea about lead in children, especially blacks children, is being used to cover up real reasons why black children may do worse in school, and such real reasons can be that such children grow up in bad culture, such as in families in which the parents speak like crap, which gets picked up by the children. I have never worried about lead supply pipes at houses. In recent years, people--wishing to spend taxpayer money freely and wishing to push along the myth that children are being affected adversely by water supply lines with lead (and not something else)--have been working to get water lines changed as quickly as possible. On January 8, 2023, I saw a story in the Royal Oak Daily Tribune called "City aims to replace lead water lines in half the time state mandates" [McConnell, Mike. "City aims to replace lead water lines in half the time state mandates." Royal Oak Daily Tribune, 8 January 2023, p. 1A.]. Here, I present a good portion of the article so that you can talk about the material presented while traveling in Michigan--"Ferndale is replacing lead water service lines to homes that have them at a much quicker rate than the state has ordered. City Public Works Director Daniel Antoski is scheduled to give City Council members an update on the replacement program's progress at their meeting Monday. 'The state required cities to replace lead lines within 20 years,' he said. 'The clock started in 2021.' But Antoski added that Ferndale is working to have all of the lead service lines replaced by 2031, a decade ahead of the state's schedule. 'City Council gave direction to replace all the lead service lines as soon as possible,' he said. Ferndale and other cities such as Royal Oak, Oak Park, Hazel Park and Birmingham a couple years ago were required to replace from 5 percent to 7 percent of lead service lines annually by the state's department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE). It is estimated that 4,000 to 5,000 residential homes in Ferndale have the lead service lines....". I know one house near me when I am in Ferndale that has a lead service line, and that house is over one-hundred years old. Yet, in one-hundred years or so, the line has not leached out to nothing or leached out to where the line leaks, such as at joints. When you travel in Michigan, be aware that there are a lot of idiots in government, even local government. And I say again--My father drew up piping for the original main building of the Allen Park Water Treatment Plant decades ago, and while the plant was being built, he was given a tour of the place, and he got to stand inside the ten-foot-diameter headers (pipes from which water leaves the plant).
Warning announcement! Because of incidents at schools for children and incidents at other places for people in general tied to "Sharia" or "Islamic Law" or even the religion/political system known as "Islam," I now regularly have this paragraph as a part of each edition of Michigan Travel Tips. The governmental system of the United States of America based on The U.S. Constitution and "Sharia" or, informally, Islamic law, are not compatible and cannot co-exist, and one reason is "Sharia" (et cetera) is a political system, in which there is one-party rule, and that one party is basically made up or controlled by religious leaders who base all the ways of their culture or society on "Sharia" or "Islamic Law." Those who uphold and practice "Sharia" have no tolerance for the existence of Christianity or Buddhism or Hinduism or non-religion, and that is a fact, and "Sharia" is a political system in which women are second-rate human bodies and in which clergy can be involved in determining business transactions, and there is no "freedom of speech" tied to politics in a society related to "Sharia." When you travel around Michigan and in other states of the country, watch for signs that rotten people are trying to teach you or family members, especially children, that "Sharia" is good and "Allah" is good and teach you or family members that the United States of America is bad and that, for instance, Christianity and Buddhism and Hinduism are bad, which I have evidence is happening and which is being brought about by people who are clearly working to make "Sharia" a dominant political system in the world (it is a political system as rotten as socialism and fascism and communism are, since it promotes violence and thuggery and coercion, and it promotes killing of non-followers behind the face of religion and a god, Allah). By the way, a society based on "Sharia" really creates nothing in the long run and does not advance the human society as a whole since it is too busy suppressing the ideas of people and keeping the ideas of the society based on ways of only a few minds up front (the political leaders), whose main purpose is to keep themselves enriched through the work of others, the many--it is a gang-run society really. Yes, if you run across people pushing the idea that Muslim stuff--particularly the true The Quran and not the translations of The Quran that are faked to hide the true nature of Islam--is better than the U.S. is, especially to little children, go public and make it known to other good people and fight back against it.
I was recently reminded by a friend that Microsoft has something informally known as a super-quiet room in Redmond, Washington, and when a person is in the room for a while, the person can end up being deluged by the sound of the person's blooding flowing through the body and the sound of the beating heart, and it seems it is commonplace for a person to only have enough strength to stay in the room for a short time. That reminded me about how, in the spring, people in rural areas can end up hearing the sound of "peepers" (as a friend of mine calls them) in the evening, and the "peepers" are toads working to attract mates. I wondered how it would be to hear a bunch of "peepers" doing their thing while I was in a big "megaphone," like that which is part of the Agnes S. Andreae Nature Preserve (or more fully the Agnes S. Andreae Nature Perserve/Boyd B. Banwell Preserve), which is located about seven-miles driving distance from Indian River of Cheboygan County in the Lower Peninsula of Michigan. The "Megaphone"--really known as the "Nature Megaphone"--is located along a part of the five-mile-or-so trail system there. In a way, the "peepers" can be pretty loud out in the open, such as along Lake Huron when I regularly hear them each year. If like peepers were doing their thing while you were inside the "Nature Megaphone," you might really get a blast of sound. By the way, the idea of the "Nature Megaphone" involves a person's getting within or inside the megaphone and being quiet and even motionless so that the megaphone can enhance the sounds of the surround woods and such. I wonder if a person with the megaphone might sort of hear the person's own heartbeat, as if sitting in the super-quiet room. The answer is probably not. It was in June 2019 that the "Nature Megaphone" was set up, so it seems very likely you are learning about the "Nature Metaphone" for the first time. Generally speaking, if you go to the Agnes S. Andreae Nature Perserve/Boyd B. Banwell Preserve), you will mostly be walking on hiking trails, and you will discover the Agnes S. Andreae Nature Perserve/Boyd B. Banwell Preserve) has grown from 27 acres (of 1983, when, basically, it was originally set up) to about 81 acres, and the place is located along the Pigeon River. The Agnes S. Andreae Nature Perserve/Boyd B. Banwell Preserve) is easy to reach if you happen to be vacationing in, for example, the Petoskey area or the Mackinaw City area or Onaway area, or I should say that it would not take long to get to the place if you are vacationing in one of the areas that I have mentioned. Oh, since the place it open throughout the year, a person could be at the place when it is snowing. I wonder if a person can hear snowflakes hitting the ground while the person is in the megaphone. A person would have to go to the Agnes S. Andreae Nature Perserve/Boyd B. Banwell Preserve to find out.
