Since I published the previous edition of Michigan Travel Tips, some rotten Michiganians were presented awards by a highly rotten man, Barack Hussein Obama. A group of "liberals" mostly (such as socialists and radicals and communists) were given the "Presidental Medal of Freedom." One recipient was Marlo Thomas, a big-time "liberal" (a supporter of the Democratic Party, which promotes socialism and communism) and a woman married to a big-time media "liberal" known as Phil Donahue. Other persons to get the award were Meryl Streep, Tom Brokaw, and Ethel Kennedy--all "liberals" [a "liberal" supports socialism and communism and other rotten political ideas upheld by the Democratic Party in the United States of America]. Stevie Wonder--the famous musician and singer and a Democratic Party supporter--was given an award, and U.S. Representative John Dingell (a Democrat related to Michigan), who had been pushing for something like the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 for decades, was given an award. Yes, two rotten Michiganians--Stevie Wonder and John Dingell--were awarded. What has to be kept in mind is when a highly rotten man (Barack Hussein Obama) passes out an award--and when, basically, the recipients as a group represent a rotten political philosophy--the value of the award is crap. When you travel in Michigan, remember Michigan has crappy people who get awarded. By the way, for the election of November 2014, some 1.3-million persons voted in to a seat of the Michigan Supreme Court a man who had promoted himself in television advertisements as a man who would not be impartial--Richard Bernstein--and that shows there are at least 1.3-million rotten persons in Michigan, being ugly minded people (evil or very stupid) [Note: See the previous edition of Michigan Travel Tips for information about Richard Bernstein].
Warning announcement! Because of incidents at schools for children and incidents at other places for people in general tied to "Sharia" or "Islamic Law" or even the religion/political system known as "Islam," I now regularly have this paragraph as a part of each edition of Michigan Travel Tips. The governmental system of the United States of America based on The U.S. Constitution and "Sharia" or, informally, Islam law, are not compatible and cannot co-exist, and one reason is "Sharia" (et cetera) is a political system, in which there is one-party rule, and that one party is basically made up or controlled by religious leaders who base all the ways of their culture or society on "Sharia" or "Islamic Law." Those who uphold and practice "Sharia" have no tolerance for the existence of Christianity or Buddhism or Hinduism or non-religion, and that is a fact, and "Sharia" is a political system in which women are second-rate human bodies and in which clergy can be involved in determining business transactions, and there is no "freedom of speech" tied to politics in a society related to "Sharia." When you travel around Michigan and in other states of the country, watch for signs that rotten people are trying to teach you or family members, especially children, that "Sharia" is good and "Allah" is good and teach you or family members that the United States of America is bad and that, for instance, Christianity and Buddhism and Hinduism are bad, which I have evidence is happening and which is being brought about by people who are clearly working to make "Sharia" and "Islamic Law" a dominant political system in the world (it is a political system as rotten as socialism and fascism and communism are, since it promotes violence and thuggery and coercion and killing under the face of religion). By the way, a society based of "Sharia" really creates nothing in the long run and does not advance the human society as a whole since it is too busy suppressing the ideas of people and keeping that ideas of the society based of ways of only a few minds up front (the political leaders, whose main purpose is too keep themselves enriched through the work of others, the many--it is a gang-run society really. Yes, if you run across people pushing the idea that Muslim-stuff is better than U.S. is, especially to little children, go public and make it known to other good people and fight back against it!
I guess it is time to take you to some place in this socialistic/communistic country known as the United States of America--the country is no longer a "representative republic," given it is controlled by socialists and communists and such rotten people and will be for a long time to come (all the members of the Democratic Party who are in federal government jobs are enemies of the United States of America as defined by The United States Constitution) and at least half of the members of the Republican Party who are in federal government jobs are enemies of the United States of America as defined by The United States Constitution), and that is the fact of life. Of course, the place to which I am taking you is in the Michigan, since the purpose of Michigan Travel Tips is to show off places in Michigan. I am taking you to Mackinaw City, Michigan, which is a place that gets a lot of publicity as a place in Michigan to visit. Yet, I have to talk about it. On Saturday, December 6, 2014, I went to Mackinaw City to take a photograph. And the photograph did not turn out to be as good as I wanted it to be. That is because the location that I wanted to photograph was somewhat off limits. There is a state dock at Mackinaw City, and at this time of the year--I discovered--it is fenced off. Rats! I wanted to shoot the location because I have a photograph from 1959 of that location, which shows The Mackinaw WAGB-83 docked with an HO3S-1G helicopter on the fantail (both then operated by the U.S. Coast Guard), and, a few years ago, I found the photograph at "boatnerd.com", the management of which has no idea about where the photograph was taken, when it was taken, and what specific helicopter was shown. I know the answers--that is a subject for another time. I did take some photographs, but they are not quite what I need to really prove to the guys and gals at boatnerd.com, the U.S. Coast Guard Archives, the Sikorsky Archives, and a number of helicopter museums around the country of my discoveries (though I am correct in my deductions). While in Mackinaw City, I stopped in at a store called "Alice's Kandy & Korn," which has been around for decades, though under several owners. Around ten years ago, a young man bought the business from a husband-and-wife team (Chuck and Ginny), and the young man ran the business into the ground, and one thing he did was cheapen the recipes for things made and sold in the store. I learned on December 6, 2014, about how the young man failed to complete orders (though paid ahead of time) and let the place get dirty, and he did more that was bad. My guess is the young man thought he could ride on past glory of the business and suck out as much revenue as possible as for as little work done as possible. (The description of the young man makes me think he is a "liberal" or a "Democrat"--whose goal, like that of Barack Obama's, is to suck the life out of others to promote the self and enrich the self.) In May 2014, Chuck and Ginny regained the business. The customer base was gone, and the reputation--which had been made over decades--was degraded. Since May 2014, Chuck and Ginny have been working to bring customers back, such as by returning products made in the store to original recipes. There is some good news. A rotten business owner is gone from Mackinaw City, and Alice's Kandy & Korn is better than it had been in recent years. Mackinaw City is at the south side of the famous Mackinac Bridge. I have some information from the Mackinac Bridge Authority about the number of crossings over the bridge last year between January 1 and November 1 and the number of crossings over the bridge this year between January 1 and November 1. When you compare last year with this year for January, February, March, April, and May, the amount of traffic was down in 2014 over 2013, and one reason for that is there was a lot of snow in the southern portion of the Lower Peninsula in 2014 so people did not have to head to the Upper Peninsula to find good cross-country-ski snow and snowmobile snow. If you look at June, July, August, September, and October for both years, 3,174 more vehicles crossed the bridge in 2014 than had in 2013. I can say that, generally speaking, tourism in the Upper Peninsula was stagnant from 2013 to 2014.
