Announcement

"Shared Responsibility Payment"--this is a reason
to hate all Democrats (especially the politicians), many
upper-level politicians of Republican Party, and two-thirds of
U.S. Supreme Court.  The payment is what the federal
government thinks people who do not buy government-
approved health insurance should pay as a tax or a fine.
It has come about through the Patient Protection and
Affordable Care Act of 2010.  It is rottenness of the
highest degree.  The only way for a good person
to destroy a bad person is to hate the bad person.
It is a rule of life!  I promote hate of rotten people,
especially Barack Hussein Obama, a promoter of
Sharia and communism and a killer.  I will not share
in paying for jackass sex-change-appearance people,
like that "Jenner" defect of nature, or foreigners, especially
illegal aliens, who are criminals, despite what shit-head
Barack Obama wants you to believe.  Hate the enemy!
I state again--I promote hate against rotten people!

Announcement showing the "shit" that Barack
Obama and his friends and associates are pushing out

In a few months, Julian Castro, the head of HUD, under the supervision of Barack Obama, is going to issue a set of rules under the heading "Small-Area Fair Market Rents" (SAFMR), and I report that ultimately the set of rules is designed to, in the future, lead to having the federal government--which is now a communistic-type entity--tell "whites" where they may and may not buy property as residences and live in the United States of America, and also the plan is a way in which the federal government under control of "Democrats" can plant people who would most likely vote for "Democrats" in elections in to communities that have in the past been more likely to vote for "Republicans" than "Democrats" (which are socialists and communists today)  By the way, you should see the article entitled "Obama's last act is to force suburbs to be less white and less wealthy" (Sperry, Paul.  "Obama's last act is to force suburbs to be less white and less wealthy."  The New York Post, 8 May 2016.).  It is being reported publicly by the federal government, though, that the set of rules will lead to helping lower-income people by putting them in better environments--the plot is to use even more taxpayer money and increase the federal debt to make it possible for low-income people to live in high-rent areas [Note: "Liberals" push out the nonsense idea that the reason low-income people are the way they are is they have been kept in low-income areas, such as by "whites" in relation to blacks, and not allowed in areas with more opportunity or in areas that are more prosperous.].  The idea from Barack Obama and associates is to set up some people as "Mobility Counselors"--government employees--who will be involved in making determinations about where low-income people will get to live and what communities must accept the low-income people (or be penalized, such as through court action).  The idea is rottenness, and the idea is hard-line communism, and it is "enslavism" in the highest form, which has come from the "Democrats" and others to the United States of America.  It is shit from shitty people!  [Note: and it is probably more shit that your favorite television newscaster, such as Stephen Clark of WXYZ-TV, a supporter of communistic ways, did not tell you about.]

- - - T.H.A.T., Edition No. 145 - - -

I am in the middle of a high-pressure search for more information about Detroit television history, and each day, I am adding a lot of information to my history files about old television shows produced and shown on television stations in the Detroit area between 1947 and today.  It is allowing me to see all sorts of interesting stories about shows and people, and I am getting a good impression of the "specials," especially news specials, that got made and broadcast, which, for one, is showing up how and when the news industry was going bad.  Also my searching is giving me more proof of the screw-ups in the book entitled From Soupy to Nuts! A History of Detroit Television (which was written by Tim Kiska).  I have been getting so much information that I keep changing my mind about what I should cover next in editions of Television History and Trivia, and I keep putting off stuff to the next edition or the next edition....  Take a look at what made it into T.H.A.T. this time.

I start with commentary, because I feel the topic of the commentary has to be noted.  On Monday, December 11, 1978, and Tuesday, December 12, 1978, NBC-TV aired a two-part movie entitled A Woman Called Moses.  It can be called a "mini-series" because the movie was made up of at least two parts, and each part was at least 90-minutes long [Note: That is my definition of a "mini-series."  A lot of people use "mini-series" to identify a television production that should actually be called a "limited-run series" or "short-flight series" or something else.]  The movie--put under the umbrella title called NBC Monday Night at the Movies--was about Harriet Ross Tubman, who was played Cicely Tyson (who in the future would be involved with a television documentary about Harriet Ross Tubman).  Some of the other performers in the production were Robert Hooks, James Wainwright, Hari Rhodes, Judyann Elder, and Dick Anthony Williams.  Recently, the public learned the Barack Obama administration was putting an image of Harriet Tubman on the front of the twenty-dollar bill soon.  Yes, Barack Obama--a perpetual liar and a communist and a support of Sharia (Islamic Law, which is that rotten political system) and a black racist, as I have shown him to be--is putting Harried Tubman on the front of the twenty-dollar bill.  That is bad news for Harriet Tubman or the legacy of Harriet Tubman, who fought against slavery.  I state that what Harriet Tubman was will now be tied to the rottenness of Barack Obama and the sickness of Barack Obama's mind.  If a good person as the U.S. president were instrumental in putting Harriet Tubman's image on the twenty-dollar bill, then that would be good for Harriet Tubman.  Given Harriet Tubman's image was put on the twenty-dollar bill by those who have proven that their nature is highly rotten, I shall always be guarded in promoting Harriet Tubman as a good person, despite her work in putting down slavery.  When bad people promote a person, a good person has to be concerned about the nature of the person being promoted.  Barack Obama damaged and hurt Harriet Tubman for all time, since his rottenness--his ways of communism and socialism ("enslavism") will be tied to her now.

Over the last several years, I have exposed many of the errors in the book entitled From Soupy to Nuts!  A History of Detroit Television (which was written by Mike Kiska and published in 2005), and in this edition, of T.H.A.T., I have more problems with the book to show, the first of which is a big one.  In the book, Tim Kiska talks about Jo-Jo Shutty-MacGregor on pages 180 and 181.  On page 181, there is this text about Jo-Jo Shutty-MacGregor--"...Fame would follow when she became the airborne traffic reporter on CKLW-AM.  Although flying traffic reporter is now a routine feature on drive-time radio, no station in Detroit had ever done this before CKLW-AM News Director Byron MacGregor tried it....".  Well, that is a big error by Tim Kiska.  I have found a person flying in a helicopter and giving traffic reports way before Jo-Jo Shutty-MacGregor would (which was in 1974).  In May 1958, a big-deal radio station in the Detroit area was WJBK-AM, which was tied to WJBK-TV, Channel 2, and in that month, the program director for the radio station was Bob Martin.  On Monday, May 12, 1958, in the morning, Bob Martin got in to a helicopter owned and operated by Helicopter Airways Service Inc., which was based in Plymouth, Michigan, and started doing traffic reports from the air for WJBK-AM.  In the first week, the schedule had Bob Martin giving reports on Monday morning (in a radio program called Morning Express) and in the afternoons on Monday, Thursday, and Friday.  By the way, it looks as if Bob Martin was the first person to do traffic reports from a helicopter for radio in the Detroit area, and my research has found no one before him--yet.  The helicopter was called a "Traffic Copter."  Soon, the station was getting traffic reports every morning and afternoon from Bob Martin.  There were sponsors; for instance, in November 1958, the sponsor was a department store informally called Federal's, and in March 1960, a company called Tyrex Inc. was sponsoring the reports, and in August 1960, the afternoon reports were sponsored by Clark (a gasoline company).  I have been able to determine the traffic service lasted till at least November 1960.  I do no know the end date yet.  By the way, Bob Martin was at WJBK-AM when the big payola scandal hit WJBK-AM and WJBK-TV in November 1959, and that scandal led to Tom Clay's firing from the radio station and Dale Young's resigning from the television station (where he had a dance show called Detroit Bandstand).  I have a photograph of the helicopter, and I am working to identify the model and maker.  It is reported by many persons that Jo-Jo Shutty-MacGregor was the first woman to do traffic reports from a helicopter in the country, and I cannot prove or disprove that yet, but I can say that Tim Kiska is way wrong about the first person to do traffic reporting from the air for radio listeners in the Detroit area.

By the way, www.detroitmemories.com has a webpage called "Detroit Bandstand & Dale Young" (which was posted in December 2009), and it has text written by Dale Young.  Nothing is mentioned about the payola scandal of 1959.  The webpage does note he was on a television show called Pirate Pete for a while (in the 1954-1955 television season) on WJBK-TV, Channel 2.  That show had at least three regular performers, and the story about that show might show up in T.H.A.T. some time in the future.

Hold it!  It is time for "breaking news," giving you news that your favorite television newscaster in Detroit probably did not tell you, too busy smiling for the camera and covering another car crash or house fire or too busy working to make the Democratic Party (which is at least a "communist party") look good, which has become commonplace for the guys and gals in Detroit.  In March 2016, the District Attorney for the U.S. Virgin Islands started an attack on people who will not buckle in to the lie about manmade climate change that is being pushed along by Democratic Party-type people, and that attack was in the form of a subpoena that was designed to get Exxon Mobil to give up countless email messages between Exxon Mobil and a lot of other entities, specifically "conservative" and "libertarian" entities, such as the Landmark Legal Foundation, which for quite a while has been fighting the Environmental Protection Agency of the U.S. government in court on various nonsense ideas issued by the EPA, the Heritage Foundation, Federalist Society, and the Hoover Institute.  The District Attorney of the U.S. Virgin Islands--Claude Walker--is imposing "enslavism" on all the entities, and specifically he is using coercion based on a big lie--manmade global warming that is killing the planet--or, in essence, Claude Walker is using the rotten premise, which is upheld by a bunch of attorneys general of states in the country, that, if you do not follow the lie and if you provide information counter to that of the government's wishes, you are involved in a "Climate-Denier Scheme," a fraud or a crime (even a federal crime).  That shows Claude Walker's rottenness, and it shows the rottenness contained in the country today, pushed along by, for one, all the Democrats.  [You are urged to see my document entitled The Sick and Evil Minds are on the Move--Enslavists (such as "Democrats") are Attacking Their Enemies Defined as "Climate Deniers" through Rotten Laws and Means, which can be reached through this Deniers link.]  [Markay, Lachlan.  "Dem AF Targets 90 Conservative Groups in Climate Racketeering Suit."  The Washington Free Beacon, 3 May 2016, 5:10 p.m.]

In the previous edition of T.H.A.T., I talked about Edythe Fern Melrose, and I showed how Tim Kiska was wrong in his book entitled From Soupy to Nuts!  A History of Detroit Television about Ms. Melrose's time on television in Detroit--Tim Kiska ended her career in 1960, and I proved she was on till at least 1966.  Actually, Edythe Fern Melrose was on television regularly till 1967, and here is the information, which is information about her last television series, which was shown on Sundays.  I am a little unsure about what the title was because information in newspapers is vague.  I will call the program--for now--Fashions Internationale.  That title is the title that I found used most.  Based on television listings, I found it called Fashions International a few times.  I note that the program was aired on CKLW-TV, Channel 9 (in Windsor, Ontario, Canada), where spellings of English-type words can be slightly different than they are in the Detroit area.  [Note: Windsor is sort of considered the Detroit television market, or it was in the 1950s and 1960s.]  Fashions Internationale focused on fashion and etiquette.  The first program aired on Sunday, August 18, 1966, beginning at 10:30 a.m., and the program ran for 30 minutes, and the theme of the first program was about fashions in Paris and Milan.  Usually, this weekly program ran for 30 minutes, but sometimes it was on for 45 minutes.  The last listing for the program that I have been able to find was for Sunday, April 30, 1967, but that gets tied to an "*".  TV listings for the last three programs or so did not have Fashions Internationale.  I found Lady of Charm.  That means the program name got changed, or it means the maker of program listings used Edythe Fern Melrose's other moniker a few times--"Lady of Charm," the history of which goes back decades--instead of the real title of the program.  I may have more about the program in the future, but that is it for now.  [* = I will have to dig into other possible sources.]

[Note: I have found a lot more that is crap in Tim Kiska's book, such as the section about Harry Jarkey and the section about Ed Allen, and I have found a page on the Internet about J.D. Beemer, which is screwed up, and that means I shall have many more issues of T.H.A.T. that will shoot down more crap in From Soupy to Nuts! A History of Detroit Television.]

Oh, "Lady of Charm" has ties to Charm Theater.

Since the early days of television broadcasting by television stations in Detroit, there have been a number of "movie hosts."  Such persons were or are hosts to the showing of movies, and what they did or do is, for instance, introduce the movies and give facts about the movies being shown.  Look at the names of some of the "movie hosts" that viewers have had in the Detroit area since the 1940s--Al Avalon, J.D. Beemer, Rita Bell, The Black Spider, Captain Flint, Count Scary, Bob Dale, Bud Davies, Shirley Eder, Jyl Forsyth, The Ghoul, Sir Graves Ghastly, The Hawk, Bob Hynes, Bill Kennedy, Joelle Lukasiewicz, Mike Masters, Bob McBride, Larry McCann, Fred Merle, Mary Morgan, Morgus, Katie Morroso, Mr. Crime, Mr. Danger, Mr. X, Dick Osgood, Conrad Patrick, Larry Sands, Johnny Slagle, The White Camellia, Eliot Wilhelm, and Wolfman Mac.  How many do you remember or know of?  Here, I will talk about one host--Mary Morgan.  Then again, maybe I should talk about one of the first long-running hosts--Bob Dale.  No.  I shall stay with Mary Morgan.  She was known for hosting Million Dollar Movie on CKLW-TV in the 1950s and 1960s.  Well, that may not be quite right.  I found that Million Dollar Movie might have started out as Million Dollar Theatre.  That title was in television listings starting on Monday, September 20, 1954, and, basically, this series ran five days a week, one day of which was not a weekday, and that was Sunday.  It was early in 1955 when Million Dollar Movie showed up in television listings.  I am only going to focus on Million Dollar Movie from roughly April 1955 to January 1961 here, and it is done to show some of the movie that people got to see.  On May 15, 1955, the program had a movie called That Winslow Boy, which featured Robert Donat.  Other movies shown in 1955 were St. Benny the Dip (with Dick Haymer), Mrs. Fitzherbert (with Peter Graves), and I Became a Criminal (with Sally Gray).  And other movies over the time period under discussion were The Paradine Case (with Gregory Peck), Quiet Please, Murder (with George Sanders), Dr. Kildare's Strange Case (with Lew Ayers), Bride for Sale (with Claudette Colbert), A Day at the Races (with the Marx Brothers), The Song of the Thin Man (with William Powell), Western Union (with Robert Young), The Thin Man (William Powell), Stand Up and Fight  (with Wallace Beery), Go West (with the Marx Brothers), Miss Robin Crusoe (with Amanda Blake), Crossroads (with Hedy Lamarr), Since You Went Away (with Claudette Colbert), Andy Hardy's Double Life (with Mickey Rooney), Southwest Passage (with Rod Cameron), Island of Desire (with Linda Darnell), The Bride Wore Red (with Joan Crawford), and After the Thin Man (with Williams Powell).  Did you notice the three movies with the "Thin Man" character?  Are not these movies running on Get TV from time to time these days?  I have seen some "Thin Man" movies recently on Get TV.   The only thing missing was a television hostess, sitting in a dress and looking feminine and pleasant.

Now I take up a topic that I did not expect to cover in this edition of T.H.A.T.--I took up the topic after having received a question that I had to answer (I was not planning to cover it because I was busy with other stuff).  I was asked to provide information about the last broadcast day for the WJMY-TV, Channel 20, of 1962 and 1963.  The person with the question noted that the information available on the Internet, particularly from Wikipedia, was defective.  I report that, generally speaking, the station was based in Allen Park (Michigan), which is a southern suburb of Detroit, and it was on the air from October 1962 to the middle of 1963.  You can see I do not provide the last day that the station was on the air, but, maybe in the future, I will have a good answer, after doing research in libraries (and that will not happen soon).  It was on July 12, 1962, that the Detroit Free Press noted in a short article that the station owners were hoping to put the station on the air around August 1, 1962, but it was not till October 17, 1962, that the Detroit Free Press had a story that noted that the station was on the air, and that story did not report that actual sign-on time or date.  In T.H.A.T. #134, I first talked about WJMY-TV, so lets go back to that--there is reported that WJMY-TV came on the air on October 7, 1962 [Note: To see T.H.A.T. #134, use this T.H.A.T. #134 link].  The article in the Detroit Free Press (of October 17, 1962) noted that the station was broadcasting daily from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and it was airing "travel information films" (a set of words that was not clearly defined).  It was also noted, based on information from Henry Vanden Bosch (the station manager) that the station could be picked up by people who were no farther from the transmitter (which was located at 16850 Southfield Road) than about 15 miles to 20 miles, and I note that that means the station did not well cover the Detroit area, which was in a time when many people did not have television sets that were equipped to pick up UHF television stations (a television set either than to be UHF ready or be attached to a separate UHF tuner).  I have yet to see a full programming schedule for the station, such as in newspapers; for example, the Detroit Free Press did not give a program schedule for the station.  If I had television-program listings from a newspaper of 1962 and 1963, I would not only know what programming the station had but also know when the station might have gone off the air for good.  By the way, I have yet to see editions of TV Guide (the Detroit edition), which are only available to me at the main branch of the Detroit Public Library, and I have to time at the moment to head there (where, in the 1970s, I spent a bunch of time looking at editions of the magazine).  I do have information on a few of the programs that were aired on the station.  In the 1962 professional baseball seasons, Tom Tresh (who had attended Allen Park High School) was on the New York Yankees, and on Thursday, November 29, 1962, it seems Tom Tresh was seen on some type of interview program on the station (starting at 7:30 p.m.).  Notice I noted "it seems" in my previous sentence.  Between October 7, 1962 and the middle of 1963, the station sometimes had broadcast troubles that put it off the air; for example, around May 8, 1963, the station was off the air because of trouble broadcasting audio through the transmitter.  On Friday, May 19, 1963, the station was scheduled to air a program called Monganga, which was about medical missionaries fighting disease in Africa.  The program originally aired as an episode of March of Medicineon NBC-TV on November 27, 1956 (of the 1956-1957 season), and it was aired again in the 1956-1957 season on NBC-TV, and the program featured John Gauther, Ben Grauer, and Norman Rose.  On February 20, 1962, John Glenn went up in to space in Mercury-Atlas 6, and soon thereafter, the U.S. Navy completed film about the event, which was called The John Glenn Story.  WJMY-TV, at the request of the U.S. Navy, planned to air The John Glenn Story on February 20, 1963, and it looks as if the program was offered free to the station.  On March 16, 1963, viewers were expecting to see Trial of Tara, which was a film presentation that was like a docudrama telling the story of St. Patrick (who played by Richard Hale) and the King Laera (who played by Leif Erickson) in 433, when St. Patrick was fighting against paganism, and Jeanne Cagney (James Cagney's sister was in the production).  That program was originally offered to television stations around the country by F. Patrick Peyton's Family Rosary Crusade and Family Theater in 1953--the broadcast window was from March 15, 1953, and March 17, 1953.  The program was like a public-service program, and it was filmed by Roland Reed Productions of Hal Roach Studios.  The program may have had an umbrella title known as Family Theater, but that I have not proved that yet; Family Theater had already been used as the umbrella-title name for collection of radio programs offered by the same entity headed by Fr. Patrick Peyton.  Before Trial at Tara was made and aired, Fr. Patrick Peyton had already had at least two other programs broadcast by television stations around the country.  It looks to me as if WJMY-TV got the program Trial at Tara for no money or little money.  I note that Trial of Tara sort of reminds me of the purpose of the episodes of Insight, which was a series of programs produced for television stations between 1960 and 1983 under the guidance of Reverend Ellwood Kieser [Note: At the moment, I only know Insight was used by WXYZ-TV in Detroit in most of the 1970s].  Based on advertisements in the Detroit Free Press of December 1962, I know for certain that WJMY-TV was airing sermons by Theron Spurr, a local "Young TV Preacher" with "Dynamic Short Sermons" for five minutes each day.  The advertisements pushed the idea about the station that it was--"Worth Watching!".  As I have noted, the television station disappeared or went dark for good in the middle of 1963.  An article by Bettelou Peterson in the Detroit Free Press for August 13, 1963, which answered a question about WJMY-TV, noted that the station has been on and off the air because of equipment and financial troubles, and an article in the Detroit Free Press for December 24, 1964, noted that WJMY-TV went off the air "a year ago," and an article in Broadcasting for March 14, 1966, noted that "...the station went dark in late 1963", and all three stories have to be treated as vague and semi-useless.  And that is where the story of WJMY-TV from me ends for now.
[Note: In 1953, Theron Spurr was ordained by the Evangelical Church Alliance, and Theron Spurr was married to Barbara Parr in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on November 6, 1953, and he was a singer and trumpeter player, and he performed with his brother (Thurlow Spurr) as a team and performed with other families members over the years, and in March 1964, when WJMY-TV was no longer an on-the-air television station, Theron Spurr was the minister at Gilead Baptist Church, and on Easter Sunday in March 1964, he pulled a stunt at the church, while speaking to about 1,000 parishioners, in which while he was delivering his words, two men dressed as police men came in to the church and took him away--it was done to show what it was like to live in a totalitarian state or country (a communistic country).]

Hey, Thurlow Spurr created a musical group/dancing group called The Spurrlows in 1959, and Thurlow Spurr is tied to Detroit television history.  On December 22, 1971, WWJ-TV, Channel 4, aired a half-hour special called Christmas with the Spurrlows, which had been recorded at Greenfield Village, Dearborn, Michigan, and on August 30, 1975, WWJ-TV aired a half-hour special called Floatin' Along with the Spurrlows.  The Spurrlows have focused on Christian-type music.

Oh, who was another woman with "charm" on television in the Detroit area in the 1950s?  It may have been Blenda Isbey.  Someday, I shall talk about the two television programs that Blenda Isbey had in Detroit in the 1950s.

Announcement for the novice again (reworked in August 2015): To get useful television-delivered news or Internet-delivered news, go to Fox News Channel (which has to be treated as wishy-washy and suspect, showing signs of mostly supporting the Republican Party establishment, which is rotten), WorldNetDaily.com, "The Drudge Report," and CNS News (which is on the Internet and which was launched on June 16, 1998), since the entities do not blindly support Barack Obama, as do CNN, MSNBC, NBC-TV, CBS-TV, and ABC-TV (Note: To learn about bad journalism, you might tune in to CNN, MSNBC, NBC-TV, CBS-TV, and ABC-TV from time to time to see how they differ from the better places mentioned with it in presenting political stories and events, and you should discover CNN, MSNBC, NBC-TV, CBS-TV, and ABC-TV avoid covering things that make Barack Obama look bad or show his true nature, which could harm you).  If you are unclear of my intentions, I say in different words that you should boycott CNN, MSNBC, NBC-TV, CBS-TV, and ABC-TV and hope they lose more ratings and advertising revenues, since they are expendable, and it is time for you to find the guts to be mean and heartless and cancel them--since they are hurting you.  [Note: The Republican Party establishment has shown itself to be socialistic and communistic within the last few years, and only a few of the rotten people are U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell, U.S. Senator John McCain, Jeb Bush, and Chris Christie.]

So far, this edition of Television History and Trivia has focused Detroit television history.  Of course, anything that airs in Detroit on television can be considered something that can be filed in to the category of Detroit television history.  Let me look at more Detroit television history--out on the edges.

On Tuesday, April 19, 2016, The CW network offered viewers the first episode of new series called Containment.  The show focuses on a fatal virus getting loose in Atlanta, Georgia.  The series entitled Containment is yet another dark and moody and violent and ugly and unpleasant television series.

What was the last nice and pleasant and fun program to show up on network television?

Hey, did you catch recently a news story on your favorite television newscast that covered the announcement that a new U.S. Navy destroyer (a ship) will be named after former U.S. Senator Carl Levin (a "Democrat" related to Michigan)?  Carl Levin was in the U.S. Congress for years, and he showed himself to be a supporter of socialism and communism.  By the way, at the announcement event were such other communists and socialists as U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow and U.S. Senator Gary Peters and U.S. Representative John Conyers (a black racist) and U.S. Representative Brenta Lawrence and U.S. Representative Debbie Dingell, who is married to the very rotten former U.S. Senator John Dingell.  Is it not befitting that Carl Levin has a "destroyer" name after him?  It fits.  For one, Carl Levin supported the highly rotten law known as the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.  In the future, good men and women will serve aboard a ship dedicated to a rotten man, and that is something that your favorite television newscaster did not pass along to you.  [Helms, Matt.  "Levin: 'Tears in my eyes' with Navy honor.'"  Detroit Free Press, 12 April 2016, p. 3A.]

Speaking of rotten television newscasters, I shall have to pass along the story of Kelly Burke (of WXYZ-TV in the early 1970s) in the future--it will be the story of another drunk, like Bill Bonds.

I now focus this edition of Television History and Trivia on an episode of a program aired on WHPR-TV, Channel 33, Detroit, on Friday, April 22, 2016, and the talk is made up of facts and commentary based on facts.  The program is Table Talk with Brenda Perryman, which runs weekly at roughly 9:00 a.m. on Fridays.  The episode was set up with three parts, the third of which will not be discussed here, since it was a simple segment focusing on two women involved in stage acting or writing.  In the first half hour or so, Brenda Perry had two guests--Calvin Morrison (who was in the U.S. Marines in the early 1960s) and Rob Mittleton (who was in the U.S. Marines from 1967 to 1970).  The focus of the segment was on an upcoming banquet involving black men (especially form military men), which was set to take place some time in June.  Brenda Perryman never had control of the interview, and the interview did not go anywhere or it lacked direction.  For example, it was not made really clear when the banquet was going to take place.  The second segment covered about half the second half hour of the program, and the guests were Master Sergeant Alfonso King and Lieutenant Colonel Lawrence Milburn (both of whom are civilians today).  This interview was a little better than the first had been, mostly because the guests were more talkative than the previous guests had been.  One thing talked about in the second segment was the Benjamin O. Davis Aerospace Technical School (which is now located at the Golightly Education Center, Detroit), and, for instance, Mr. Milburn lamented about how the school is really a shell of what it was.  By the way, during the hour or so of Table Talk with Brenda Perryman, there were hints that "whites" are keeping blacks down.  Near the end of the second segment, Mr. Milburn noted that only about two percent of the military pilots are black, and he wondered why that was the number was so low, and he wanted the audience to wonder why and maybe taking up thinking the problem with caused by whites.  Here, I shall give some of the answer to the problem.  Generally speaking, the percentage of "blacks" in the country is about 14 percent.  For sake of simple argument, I note that about half of that percentage--seven percent--is female, and most females are not even going to try to be pilots (but that does not mean I am completely discounting women here).  So, about seven percent of the population of the country is black males.  For fighter pilots--white or blacks or asians or whatever--the age range is from 19 years to 29 years at most.  Of that seven percent, few men can fit in the age range for pilots.  Now let me look closer at Detroit.  About half the persons in the city are functionally illiterate (other areas where blacks are the main group of people also have high illiteracy rates), and that means, for example, many men cannot well read a "Chilton's" book or a "Haynes" book--car-repair manuals--so that they can repair cars well; if a person cannot read well such books and do have the stamina to read those books and even longer books--such as repair manuals for, for example, MH-65E helicopters--the person will not likely end up being a mechanic in the U.S. military, and if a person wishing to be a pilot cannot read well the long manuals on particular aircrafts, the person will very likely not be a pilot in the U.S. military.  In the black community, the "family" structure is a mess.  Young black men are not growing up under control of good black men, who can teach the young men who learn to control their animal nature.  About 70 percent of black children live in single-family homes, and a lot of young women are raising young males on their own, and the young women lack the strength of older males--father types--to teach young black males to get control of their selves--and become good men.*  Here is a problem that been around for decades, at least since the 1960s--I have heard blacks have put down the teachings of white teachers, such as proper grammar and word usage related to formal English--and have only wanted to be taught by blacks.  By the way, how is the Detroit school system doing?  Over the years, I have heard how, for example, books and school supplies have been bought and then are left hidden in warehouses and not distributed, and, of course, I have heard of corruption in the school system, one of the latest stories involving about a dozen school principals.  By the way, many persons who run shows on WHPR-TV regularly show themselves to be black racists, and two of them are Carl Williams and Hassan Aleem, who do a show regularly on Tuesday mornings.  On Tuesday, April 26, 2016, during Carl Williams and Hassan Aleem pushed along the crap that, in relation to the Detroit school system deficit, it was--"State of Michigan caused the deficit....".  I state that a lot of young black men are being taught crap.  In addition, a lot of young black men seem to think that black rappers--ganster rappers, for instance--are to be praised and followed, and evidence of that can be found through programs aired on WHPR-TV, especially late at night.  Oh, let me bring in Barack Obama, a perpetual liar and a supporter of communism and Sharia (Islamic law), both of which are rotten political systems; recently, Barack Obama had, for instance, a black rapper known as Kenrick Lamar as a guest at the White House--the cover of Kenrick Lamar's current album shows a bunch of black gangster-like young men in front of the White House, and at their heels is a dead white judge, and that rottenness is what Barack Obama is pushing forth as something to be followed by blacks, especially young black men.  Incidentally, how many young black men in Detroit are involved in using illegal mind-altering drugs?   No one can persuade me that many young black men are being pushed--such as by fathers--to learn things and learn to read well so that they can be pilots in the U.S. military.  In addition, it is a fact that Barack Obama has been working to cut down the size of the U.S. military, and when the U.S. military gets smaller, there are fewer jets to fly and there are fewer positions to fill and there are fewer chances to get jobs in the U.S. military and earn money by young white men and young black men (who keep seeing the images of black gangster types holding a lot of cash in their hands (on album covers or wherever).  During Table Talk with Brenda Perryman, no one really mentioned why only about two percent of the pilots in the U.S. military are blacks, but a viewer could easily understand the persons in the discussion were hinting the problem had to do with "whites" (the implications were evident).
[* Note: Here is something that has to be mentioned.  Years ago, fathers--white, black, or whatever--used to do things with sons more regularly.  Remember the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s, or try to think of the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s.  By the way, I am going to tie my theme in with television.  From 1948 to 1967, it was commonplace for Channel 4, WWJ-TV, to broadcast live portions of the big annual Soap Box Derby event sponsored by, for instance, The Detroit News in either July or very early August at "Derby Hill" (of Rouge Park at first and later a park at East Outer Drive and Mound Road), and the event could involve the "Oil Can Derby Parade," and, over the years, the event had several names, such as the Detroit & Suburban Motor City Derby.  At least in those decades, boys got more encouragement to build things from fathers--though the things were simple things--which could lead to them to getting in to the habit of working on things and taking up working on bigger things and more complicated things, like jets.  Where is that idea in Detroit today?  In Detroit, how many boys get pushed along by fathers to build things?  It seems to me fathers who make money selling mind-altering drugs are more commonplace in Detroit than fathers who urge their sons to build things, such as "box-cars" (or derby cars).  What happened to the two places called Derby Hill?  I found they are for the most part covered up by dirt and grass and weeds.  At least, it seems, some soap-box-derby racing is still going on with whites and blacks and whatever in Mt. Clemens--the last Mount Clemens Grand Prix was held in September 2015.  If the 2016 race has not been canceled, it will probably be in September.  By the way, some of the guys that broadcast the big annual Soap Box Derby event on WWJ-TV from 1948 to 1967 were Al Ackerman, Don Kremer, Gene Osborn, Kirk Knight, and Dave Zimmerman.]

Let me pass along more to you about WHPR-TV, and I also pass it along to the persons who appeared on Table Talk with Brenda Perryman, especially Brenda Perryman and Lieutenant Colonel Lawrence Milburn, on April 22, 2016.  On Saturdays around this time, Reverend Jim Holley hosts a program called Hello, Detroit (it runs from about 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.).  On Saturday, April 30, 2016, I tuned into the program at about 8:58 a.m., and Reverend Jim Holley was talking with a guest, whose name I was unable to get, but he seemed to be at least Reverend Dwayne (and to write this section, I will have to call him "Reverend Dwayne").  Almost immediately, I caught Jim Holley pointing at his skin and saying--"This right here should bring us together.".  Jim Holley was pushing the idea about race and the idea that blacks should unite based on race.  Really, the roughly one hour of Hello, Detroit was filled with ignorance and racist themes, especially pushed along by Reverend Dwayne.  Much of the show seemed to focus on getting people to send money that could be used to send medical supplies and other things to the Republic of Congo.  The two men pushed along the idea that whites have kept Africa down, and Reverend Dwayne pushed out the idea that China is working to take over land in Africa because that country has roughly one-billion persons and needs land in Africa to grow foot for Chinese.  In fact, Reverend Dwayne said that the Chinese "decimated the land in China."  That idea from Reverend Dwayne is stupid.  I say that that amount of rottenness passed along by the two men was endless.  [By the way, guys and gals, the Chinese are working to get in to Africa so that they can spread "enslavism," particularly "communism,' which they are also working to do in the South China Sea region of the world at the same time.]  Here is one big piece of nonsense passed along by Reverend Dwayne.  Reverend Dwayne said that--Four new elements were recently found for the periodic table, and all the elements are only located in Africa.  Reverend Dwayne tied that to the idea that, for example, France is working to keep control on Africa so that it can have the resources and control of the new elements.  Hold it!  Let me pass along truth and fact.  The four new elements were created in a laboratory, and the elements can only be created in a laboratory, and the elements do no exist naturally on the planet to find and mine--in any place, even any place in Africa!  All the telephone callers that I heard passed on idiocy and foolishness.  One guy even spewed out some nonsense about the government burning trillions and trillions of dollars every year.  Reverend Dwayne pass along the bullshit that "whites" purposely created HIV and ebola to kill blacks.  Reverend Dwayne even passed along the idea that "whites" have been and are involved in blocking blacks from being farmers.  One of Jim Holley's themes had to do with buying a building in Detroit and with not being able to get 32 persons together to help.  That was a useless theme.  Jim Holley did note that "We [blacks] have serious problems.".  However, it did not seem to be in Jim Holley's mind that his passing along ignorance and his guests' pass along idiocy was a problem.  One theme that came up was that, if Africa could be united into one entity with one currency, "blacks" could rule the world.  Of course, the two men seemed unaware of the rottenness attacking Africa right now from the "Shariaists" (the pushers of Islamic law, which is a rotten form of government), who are coming out of the Middle East, and the two men did not note how Africa is yet based on the tribal system of government with many corrupt black politicians, and the two men did not mention the tribal wars yet going on, which have been going on for centuries between different tribes of blacks.  African societies have been around for centuries, and "whites" did not keep the Africans in tribal ways, with people practicing voodoo and other nonsense, and yet, for instance, "blacks" in the United States of America are being urged to send money to the Congo to help the Congo, which, I say, should have been doing well already given, in essence, the Congo society has been around way longer than the U.S. society has been.  Why after centuries and centuries is the Congo a garbage place?  The problem is the main type of political system based on "a person" and not "the person"--It is that mind-set that "kings," even if corrupt and rotten and morally defective kings, are the way to go.

The previous paragraph gives hints at why so few "blacks" are flying in the U.S. military--a lot of people, especially black politicians and black "activists" and black "Reverends," are teaching young black men garbage.

Hey, Reverend Jim Holley, get your head out of the sand--the Shariasts are working to kill off Christians, even black Christians, and the Shariaists are killing black Christians in Africa today, and you are a target for Shariaists.  [Look it up!]

Today, a child would be better off watching The Adventures of Spunky and Tadpole (or Spunky and Tadpole) than watching Hello, DetroitThe Adventures of Spunky and Tadpole was seen by children in the Detroit area from about August 1960 to September 1962 on WJBK-TV, Channel 2.  It was a syndicated cartoon show featuring a boy named Spunky and his friend, a bear named Tadpole.  The series actually was first offer in syndication in the fall of 1958, syndicated by Guild Films.  Later, in about August 1960, Official Films was the syndicator.  The series was made by Beverly Hills Productions, and voices of characters came from Joan Gardner, Don Messick, and Ed Janis.  Yes, indeed, a young boy would get more from Spunky and Tadpole today--seeing rockets and pirate ships and caves--than from Reverend Jim Holley and Reverend Dwayne.  Episodes of that old cartoon series are available on YouTube.  Have fun!

Announcement: I have put off talking about the short-flight series entitled One Big Mess till the next edition of Television History and Trivia.  The program was a three-episode local production that was aired on WADL-TV, Channel 38.1, in April 2016.  Some of the performers were Marcus Woods as Trey and Cortnine Graham as Mia (Trey's wife).  I do note that is was not "one big mess."  But it could have been better, as I shall show.  By the way, generally speaking, WHPR-TV, Channel 33.1, is working and hoping to make something good--Fake Friends (a sitcom) (Prodigal Sons Productions is involved in producing the program).  I know not when it will air.  Will the makers of Fast Friends learn from One Big Mess and my soon-to-comg thoughts presented about One Big Mess?

Hey, was not May 3, 2016, a momentous day on television?  Some "shits" who are commonplace on television or in making television events showed themselves to be "shits."  For one, Donald Trump--who is a truly rotten man--pushed out the idiocy that Ted Cruz's father was somehow tied to the killing of U.S. President John F. Kennedy, and, in fact, for instance, Donald Trump said on Fox and Friends (a weekday program on the Fox News Channel) in the morning--"...You know, his father [Ted Cruz's father] was with Lee Harvey Oswald prior to Oswald being, ah, you know, shot.  The whole thing is ridiculous.  What, what is this?  Prior to his being shot.  And nobody even brings it up.  They don't even talk about that.  That was reported.  Ah, and nobody talks about that.  But I think it's horrible.  I think it's absolutely horrible that a man can go and do that, what he's saying there...." and "...What was he doing with Lee Harvey Oswald shortly before the death, before the shooting?  It's horrible....".  Having no proof that Rafael Oswald was involved in the killing of John F. Kennedy, Donald Trump showed himself to be a rotten thinker by making his comments.  There is no proof to back up Donald Trump's theme, and since the theme is such as "hot-button" issue--surrounded by all types of conspiracy theories and falsehoods--he should have left issue alone.  A man with the quality of good thinking and judgment would never bring up the idea that was hinted at--that Ted Cruz's father might have been involved in the plot to kill U.S. President John F. Kennedy.  Donald Trump should be seen as a boy who has not grown.  Donald Trump is no statesmen or good leader.  Donald Trump is "shit," not unlike Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, John Boehner....  By the way, the whole theme was inspired by a story in the National Inquirer, which is headed by a close associate of Donald Trump's [Note: I had seen the story headline on the "rag" the previous morning at a store and had expected Donald Trump to push out the nonsense].  Later in the day, CBS-TV presented a new episode of NCIS, featuring such performers as Mark Harmon, Pauley Perrette, Sean Murray, and Rocky Carroll.  It is a series over seen overall by Donald P. Bellisario, and the production team this season has had such persons as Chas. Floyd Johnson, Christopher J. Waild, Mark R. Schilz, Scott Williams, Steven D. Binder, Gary Glasberg, George Schenck, Frank Cardea, Avery C. Drewe, and Gina Lucita Monreal.  The episode had Michelle Obama--a highly rotten woman who is married to a killer and high-rotten man named Barack Obama--as a guest star of sorts.  I report--I was not surprised by the names of the persons who were credited as having written the episode.  What was shown were two women--Jennifer Corbett and Gina Lucita Monreal.  I say in jest--Is not the feminist movement great, promoting communists and communism as good in fictional television series?  The episode was directed by Dennis Smith.  I now look down on everyone tied to the show--from actors to producers to sound editors.  It is a collection of highly rotten people.  Instead of watching NCIS, watch The Adventures of Spunky and Tadpole.  You will be better off.  [Note: Follow the example of that piece of shit from the E Street band named Steve Van Zandt, who recently pushed forth the idea of hitting them in the pocketbook, though his reasons were way off from what my are.  In fact, hit Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band in the face by not buying their products.  They are communists!  Do unto them as they would do unto you!]

Remember: The Prisoner with Patrick McGoohan was a television show that was produced across the pond and shown on CBS-TV in the late 1960s, and I urge you to find The Prisoner on DVD, maybe from a library, and watch it, and you should show it--all the episodes--to teenagers, or buy it as a present for teenagers.

Stay well!

Vic

P.S.: You are urged to see my document entitled One of "The Rules of Man"--A Rule About Health Care that No Politician May Supersede with Law, which can be reached through this Rule1 link.  I have deduced that all the Democrats and most Republicans support the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 and have no intention of killing it, though it should be killed for violating, for one, "The Rules of Man."  For example, Republicans Jeb Bush and Christ Christie support the rotten law, and that is one reason that I define them as stupid men and not men who are good enough--in this day and age--to be the U.S. President.  On February 18, 2016, during a "Republican Presidential Town Hall" broadcast on CNN, Donald Trump showed why he would not be a great U.S. President by saying--"Well, I like the mandate.  Okay.  Here's where I'm a little bit different.  I don't want people dying in the street....".  I note that the "mandate"--which forces every to buy government-approved health-care insurance--violates one of "The Rules of Man," and it is a rule that is at the heart of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010.  Anyone who supports the "mandate" is not a good enough person or a smart enough person to be the U.S. president--the mandate is "enslavism," and the "mandate" allows government people--who are often and usually bad people, as history shows--decide what health care a person can get, and that is bad.
