- - - Travel Thoughts for Everyone - - -

Normally, when I travel from the Detroit area to northeastern Lower Michigan, I use, for instance, I-75 and M-33 for most of the trip, and I usually get to the upper area in around 8:00 p.m..  On July 3, 2025, I started out for up north later than I usually do, and I did not get up north till about 12:00 a.m. (July 4, 2025).  But that was not bad.  It was all fortunate for me and my passenger.  At about 10:20 p.m. on July 3, 2025, I was heading north on M-33 between Fairview and Comins, and when closer to Comins than Fairview, I saw a fireworks show.  People were parked on the west side of M-33 to see the show in a fields like area, and that was the best community-set-up fireworks show--though I was moving--that I caught live in Michigan for the 4th of July holiday.  On the evening of July 4, 2025, I did see from a distance several home-based fireworks shows along Lake Huron.  I make this mention since I talk a little bit about the broadcast of The Ford Fire Works (of Detroit) for this year in the edition of Television History and Trivia for July 10, 2025, which can be reached through this T.H.A.T. #255 link.  I once again, by the way, attended the 4th of July Parade at Onaway, and, there, I met some people--parade watchers--from Alanson, Michigan, and I took photographs of the special-presentation float from Moran Ironworks, and I sent some of the photographs to the people from Alanson--they did no photographing, even though some relatives of theirs were taking part in presenting the float.  For this edition of Michigan Travel Tips, I might be fun to go to Alanson to see what is going on.

In a way, this document has started out with a political theme, which might offend some people, especially rotten people, such as those who support the ways of the Democratic Party, which is a communistic and socialistic political party, some themes of which are corruption and violence and lies, which are used so that a few can get as much out of life for free as possible, and, really, killing others is a useful tactic, as it in communistic and socialistic societies and the like in other parts of the world.  Iran and Russia are only two such other countries in the world, and they are rotten places, and they have countless rotten people, which has come about through many generations of breeding and bad teachings, especially bad teaching by the so-called elites and by the politicans and media people and so-called religous people (like Imans).  Try this!  In essence, the people of Russia are a stupid people, and based on years of learning and hearing about Russia and the Soviet Union over the years and seeing videos about Russia on YouTube over the last few years, I can say that Russia is a place with nothing--such as nothing to see, especially in the small towns and villages, where people are highly poor and alcholism is big and buildings are crap and unemployment is rampant.  When people are so controlled by government--an entity that is against private industry, for one--the people end up with nothing in the way of means or money with which to get better and make things better, and growth stalls and things fall apart.  For example, such people have no money or time  or incentive that can be used to create small community museums.  Go to Russia--a favorite place of U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (a piece of shit of a human being)--and you will find a dead society exhibited in most of the communities.  You do not have to go to Russia to see that the people in Rusia  are treated by the elites and politicians in Russia as shit--Well over one-million soldiers of the Russian military have been put out of commission--killed and such--so that Putin can have the freedom to kill others and take property from others (such as Ukrainians) and be known for rebuilding an empire (for himself).  Putin has no skills really, and all that Putin is about is getting for himself, as was the way of Joseph Biden (another piece of shit of a man).  Why does the United States of America, such as Michigan, have little museums scattered all over the place?  It is because the people are not controlled in relation to making money and making things as they are in Russia and other counties, such as Iran, where the only thing the rulers can do is work to kill others on behalf of their god--It is something to do in life, and they have nothing else that they wish to be in life.  Think about that while traveling in Michigan.

Warning announcement!  Because of incidents at schools for children and incidents at other places for people in general tied to "Sharia" or "Islamic Law" or even the religion/political system known as "Islam," I now regularly have this paragraph as a part of each edition of Michigan Travel Tips.  The governmental system of the United States of America based on The U.S. Constitution and "Sharia" or, informally, Islamic law, are not compatible and cannot co-exist, and one reason is "Sharia" (et cetera) is a political system, in which there is one-party rule, and that one party is basically made up or controlled by religious leaders who base all the ways of their culture or society on "Sharia" or "Islamic Law."  Those who uphold and practice "Sharia" have no tolerance for the existence of Christianity or Buddhism or Hinduism or non-religion, and that is a fact, and "Sharia" is a political system in which women are second-rate human bodies and in which clergy can be involved in determining  business transactions, and there is no "freedom of speech" tied to politics in a society related to "Sharia."  When you travel around Michigan and in other states of the country, watch for signs that rotten people are trying to teach you or family members, especially children, that "Sharia" is good and "Allah" is good and teach you or family members that the United States of America is bad and that, for instance, Christianity and Buddhism and Hinduism are bad, which I have evidence is happening and which is being brought about by people who are clearly working to make "Sharia" a dominant political system in the world (it is a political system as rotten as socialism and fascism and communism are, since it promotes violence and thuggery and coercion, and it promotes killing of non-followers behind the face of religion and a god, Allah).  By the way, a society based on "Sharia" really creates nothing in the long run and does not advance the human society as a whole since it is too busy suppressing the ideas of people and keeping the ideas of the society based on ways of only a few minds up front (the political leaders), whose main purpose is to keep themselves enriched through the work of others, the many--it is a gang-run society really.  Yes, if you run across people pushing the idea that Muslim stuff--particularly the true The Quran and not the translations of The Quran that are faked to hide the true nature of Islam--is better than the U.S. is, especially to little children, go public and make it known to other good people and fight back against it.

Alanson is a small place in Emmet County of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, or it is a place in the northwestern quarter of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, and it has a little museum, which exists in a small two-story brick building, which has a blue sign with white lettering that states--"Inland Water Route Historical Museum".  The Inland Water Route or Inland Waterway is something that is made up of some short rivers (such as the Cheboygan River, which empties into northern Lake Huron) and some lakes (Mullet Lake, Burt Lake, Crooked Lake, and Pickeral Lake), and it has two lock systems (the Cheboygan River Lock and the Crooked River Lock).  Really, the system exists in two counties of Michigan--Emmet County an Cheboygan County--and the waterway route is about 38-miles long.  It is commonplace for boats--especially small boats with vacationers--to travel the route in the summer and fall.  The boats can have a draft of no more than five feet and can have a beam of no more than 18 feet, and the length has to be less than about 65 feet, but a small portion of the system (at roughly the starting place of the system, which is in the Crooked Lake area) only allows people to use boats with a length of no more than about 25 feet.  In the waterway area are such communities as Topinabee, Punshewaing, Oden, Indian River, Conway, Cheboygan, and Alanson.  The museum at Alanson focuses on the history of the communities in the Inland Waterway area and on history of the waterway, using, as you should expect, artifacts and photographs and more.  The place is operated by the Inland Water Route Historical Society, which operates a little gift shop that is designed to gain money to help keep the museum operating; the history of the historical society goes back to 2004.  To see the museum, a person pays no charge, and the museum is open, as a rule, on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. during the tourist season.  The Inland Water Route Historical Museum is located at 6217 River Street, which is a little east of US-31, which is one of the main north-south routes in Michigan, especially western Lower Michigan.  If you go to the museum, you may have a chance to take a short tour on water of the waterway while on a launch called The Marilyn Jean, which was put in service in 2017, but I have no information that indicates the launch is being used this tourist season.  But you could take a canoe or kayak with you, and see the waterway on your own, after, for example, seeing the Inland Water Route Historical Museum.

    Enjoy your traveling in Michigan!

    Stay well!
