Special Important Announcement
Now I have a document at the website for The Hologlobe Press entitled A COVID-19 Document that Shows the Rottenness of the CDC, Many in the Medical Community, Many in the Media, and All the Democrats, such as Gretchen Whitmer, Andrew Cuomo, and Joseph Biden, and the document can be reached by using this COVID-19 link.

Certainly, from 1969 to 2003, people could get good long-distance travel information about Michigan from at least some radio stations in Michigan, and that information was gathered and put out by staffers of the broadcast area of AAA Michigan, and I was a member of the area from 1976 to 2003. Normally, the unit put out reports on weekday mornings in the winter and on Fridays and Sundays afternoons and evenings throughout the year, but if the weather was really bad at other times, special broadcasts were set up. In essence, staffers at AAA Michigan gathered information from police, wrote reports, called radio stations, and announced live or for tape the reports. On March 28, 2025, March 29, 2025, and March 30, 2025, a big ice storm hit the northern quarter or so of the Lower Peninsula. Roads were blocked by downed trees, especially in Cheboygan County and Presque Isle County, and thousands and thousands of people lost electricity service, telephone service, and cable service for a number of days, such as seven days or 14 days. At the time, no good reports about road conditions in the affected region were put out by anyone or any entity in the Detroit area, which would have helped people who have secondary homes or cottages up in northern Lower Michigan; the people would have had an idea whether or not they could get to their places to see what was happening and what had happened, such as a trees crashing into the roofs of their places. People had no idea if they could get to the affected areas or if they could get to the areas and find gas. EVs were probably put sort of out of commission, by the way, or they could have been. Now that the ice-storm damaged is mostly under control or eliminated, I report that, for one, media entities of the Detroit area did a terrible job in covering the events of, for instance, Cheboygan County and Presque Isle County, but, to me, that is not surprising, given I know well what they cover as news--which is mostly fluff and useless stuff and crap, such as news from or about the Democrats (communists and socialists) in the federal government that is designed to make the people look good, though it is a lie, and news about car crashes and such in faraway places (which has no value). Think about it, and keep that in mind while you travel in Michigan, especially in Cheboygan County and Presque Isle County.
I have not a list of what was affected and what was not affected by the ice storm for Cheboygan County and Presque Isle County of March 2025, but I have lists of things to see in both counties. I have spent a few days eating lunch at Gordon Turner Park, which is at Cheboygan of Cheboygan County; when there, I have been able to look out on to Lake Huron and see Bois Blanc Island. Incidentally, it seems Gordon Turner Park was unaffected in relation to having people simply park at the place and have a lunch because of the ice storm. In Presque Isle County, the caretaker of 40 Mile Lighthouse Park reports that the park was without power for a while at about the time of the ice storm, but the caretaker noted that generators were soon set up, such as for the lighthouse proper, and since the place was not really open as a tourist attraction for the season yet, people were not put out by going there. In Cheboygan County, vesper cruises (based at Mackinaw City) were not affected by the storm, since they only take place usually in the summer. Historic Mill Creek Discovery Park of Cheboygan County or the Mackinaw City area was not blocked from having visitors during the ice event, since the place is only open for the summer tourist seasons, and, for this summer, it is open from now through August 31, 2025, and it has three theme weeks this year, one of which focuses on mills stones (an event for roughly the last week of the tourist season). The Presque Isle County Historical Museum is located at Rogers City, and the Great Lakes Lore Maritime Museum is also located at Rogers City, and they are tourist attractions to keep in mind, and I now make you aware that I gave both places a CD of how I made a model of 40 Mile Point Lighthouse, which is located about seven miles north of Rogers City, and, by the way, the library at Cheboygan and the library at Rogers City have a CD about how I made the lighthouse model. The main feature of the Presque Isle County Historical Museum is The Bradley House, which is usually open for regular visits from the middle of May to near the end of September each year. In contrast, the Great Lakes Lore Maritime Museum is usually open at the start of May, and, in fact, this season began on May 1. Oh, Ocqueoc Falls is a falls located in Presque Isle County, and it is a tourist attraction that I sort of drive by regularly, and the best time to see the Ocqueoc Falls is in the summer and the color season, and it can be found about eleven miles west of Rogers City. At Alverno of Cheboygan County, a person can see a real U.S. military helicopter of years ago, and the helicopter is on display at the VFW building at that place, and the helicopter is a "Huey" (an UH-1H), a type of helicopter used during the Vietnam War. Cheboygan happens to be the site of an opera house--the Cheboygan Opera House--where presentations are done throughout the year, and, for instance, the Youth Theater group of the Northland Players will present The Lion King Jr. on June 20, June 21, and June 22. Rogers City Theater is located at Rogers City. The Onaway Historical Museum yet exists at Onaway of Presque Isle County, and I use "yet" because some places in my files are still listed but listed with the designation "closed" forever, and, as usual, there will be a 4th of July Parade at Onaway at noon this year on the Fourth of July, and I should be there. In addition, I note that the operators of the Onaway Historical Museum are working to move--some day in the future--the museum to the building known today as the Lobdell Administration Building (which in the past was called the Onaway Masonic Temple building and the Onaway for the American Wood Trim Company building), and the current home of the museum is also were a library exists, and that library is associated with the one at Rogers City, so a person could obtain a copy of my video about 40 Mile Point Lighthouse at the place. Indian River is in Cheboygan County or at I-75 and M-68, and about two miles south of Indian River is a park called Cooperation Park, and people do things at the park throughout the year--in the winter, it has a ice-skating rink, and it is a place where people do cross-country skiing, and, for instance, in the summer, it has a roller rink and a skateboard place and places for baseball, basketball, soccer, and tennis, and there is a walk track. In Presque Isle County is Onaway State Park, and associated with that park is the Shoepac Lake State Forest Campground and the "Sinkhole Pathway," which is about two-miles-and-a-half long and gives people the ability to see five sinkholes, and the campground is where people--maybe in camper vans--can stay a night or so while taking part in fishing or boating, and the place does have places for about two-dozen set groups and potable water, and there is a fee to camp (the upper limit time for which is 15 days). And that is a simple list of some of the places to see in Presque County and Cheboygan County.
Warning announcement! Because of incidents at schools for children and incidents at other places for people in general tied to "Sharia" or "Islamic Law" or even the religion/political system known as "Islam," I now regularly have this paragraph as a part of each edition of Michigan Travel Tips. The governmental system of the United States of America based on The U.S. Constitution and "Sharia" or, informally, Islamic law, are not compatible and cannot co-exist, and one reason is "Sharia" (et cetera) is a political system, in which there is one-party rule, and that one party is basically made up or controlled by religious leaders who base all the ways of their culture or society on "Sharia" or "Islamic Law." Those who uphold and practice "Sharia" have no tolerance for the existence of Christianity or Buddhism or Hinduism or non-religion, and that is a fact, and "Sharia" is a political system in which women are second-rate human bodies and in which clergy can be involved in determining business transactions, and there is no "freedom of speech" tied to politics in a society related to "Sharia." When you travel around Michigan and in other states of the country, watch for signs that rotten people are trying to teach you or family members, especially children, that "Sharia" is good and "Allah" is good and teach you or family members that the United States of America is bad and that, for instance, Christianity and Buddhism and Hinduism are bad, which I have evidence is happening and which is being brought about by people who are clearly working to make "Sharia" a dominant political system in the world (it is a political system as rotten as socialism and fascism and communism are, since it promotes violence and thuggery and coercion, and it promotes killing of non-followers behind the face of religion and a god, Allah). By the way, a society based on "Sharia" really creates nothing in the long run and does not advance the human society as a whole since it is too busy suppressing the ideas of people and keeping the ideas of the society based on ways of only a few minds up front (the political leaders), whose main purpose is to keep themselves enriched through the work of others, the many--it is a gang-run society really. Yes, if you run across people pushing the idea that Muslim stuff--particularly the true The Quran and not the translations of The Quran that are faked to hide the true nature of Islam--is better than the U.S. is, especially to little children, go public and make it known to other good people and fight back against it.
In the previous edition of Michigan Travel Tips, I made the "camper van" the main topic, and there were no suggestions focused on places to see, and now I present some places where a camper van might be used (such as a somewhat simple camper van--one that a person has created out of a simple van, by adding heating, an air conditioner, a sleeping area, a mini-kitchen, et cetera). In the Keweenaw Peninsula of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, there is a campground called the Lake Linden Village Campground, and it can be called a modern-type campground, since it offers water and electricity, but the place does have rustic sites, and, of course, there are fees to take part in camping at the place. In the Lake Linden area, there are tourist attractions to see, and seeing those things can take a few days to see at least. In contrast, a camping place called the Bay Furnace Campground exists in the Christmas area/Munising area of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and this camping place offers--when open for, in essence, the summer tourist season--no water and no electricity and no rest rooms, and in the way that I see it, I can say that it would be a perfect place to go in a small camper van, which has a toilet and a little kitchen and a sleeping area and a tiny shower. By the way, the Bay Furnace Campground is in the Hiawatha National Forest, and if a person were in a camper van in that forest, the person could stop almost anyway, and then set up for lunch and have lunch, such as in the van if it is raining.
Okay, I know a camper van is not a part of true camping, such as with a simple tent, but some people have not the time for rural-type camping or do not have the ability to do tent stuff--such as setting up a tent somewhere--because they are older, but it must be kept in mind, for example, that a person who does do camper-van stuff is yet seeing things and providing revenue for tourist attractions in Michigan, which they might not otherwise do, and they spend money at stores and more, such as restaurants and grocery stores and gas stations, so I do not put down camper-van people.
If you are a camper-van person, welcome to Michigan.
Enjoy your traveling in Michigan!
Stay well!
Victor
