For your trip today, I am going to take you astray, and I am going to report something big that I did in January 2024. On October 10, 2022, I put a document on the Internet called Television History and Trivia #222, and on October 31, 2022, I put on a cut down version of that document on the Internet, and the spin-off document is called The Happy Search for Soupy Sales' Naked Gals. In roughly 1958, when Soupy Sales was hosting an episode of his Noon Time Comics on WXYZ-TV, the crew played a trick on Soupy Sales. During the live broadcast, a nude gal appeared on the set, but she was not seen by the television audience. Then in very late 1961 (probably) or very, very early 1962, Soupy Sales was now doing a weekday show--The Soupy Sales Show--on KABC-TV, Los Angeles, and the same type of trick was pulled again, but it was done by the crew at KABC-TV. Oh, again the naked gal was not seen by the television audience. The event at KABC-TV was recorded on either kinescope film (a.k.a. teletranscription film) or on tape, and since that day, the recording--which shows the naked gal--has been circulating around the country, such as on the Internet, and it is available in censored and uncensored versions. Since 1961, no one has reported the name of the gal who took part in the KABC-TV event. On January 29, 2014, I discovered the name of the gal for myself. I went looking on the Internet--once again--to find images of pinup gals of the 1960s, and during the search, I found an image of the gal, and she was sitting in a lounge chair of sorts on a sunny day. The gal was reported to be Sandy Benson. I went looking for more images of Sandy Benson to confirm that I now knew the name of the gal. All the images that I found when compared to images from the recording done at KABC-TV proved that I was right, and I now know for certain the gal was Sandy Benson. Around the same time, I discovered that there is a museum called the Early Television Museum in Hilliard, Ohio, and that is in the Columbus area of Ohio. By the way, a little before 2010, I saw the Philo T. Farnsworth Television Museum in Aubury, Indiana, and then in 2010, the museum was shut down, but there is a Farnsworth TV and Pioneer Museum in Rigby, Idaho, and I note that Philo T. Farnsworth was the developer of the all-electronic television system. So, I looked at the website for the Early Television Museum, and while I did, I reminded myself that I now had the correct date for the shut down of the DuMont Television Network in my television files, and the people at the Early Television Museum might have some old television sets that were made by the Allen B. DuMont Laboratories, such as in the 1940s. By the way, the DuMont Television Network went into operation on April 15, 1946. Incidentally, around the time that I discovered Sandy Benson, I was working to report to various entities on the Internet, such as The Henry Ford, that, when they use a date in 1946 as the end date for the DuMont Television Network, they are using the wrong date, and I gave them the right date, and I reported that I had proof or I report that I could sent proof. For the Early Television Museum, I sent an email with a bit of information and I sent the proper end date. I have yet to receive a response to my email. What is more important is that I sort of got a response from a staffer at The Henry Ford, which had a document on the Internet about a DuMont-made television set, and it was noted on the page that the DuMont Television Network ended in 1956. The response noted that my information was being passed along to the proper department at the museum complex. The next day, I sent more information--proof of my date--but I never got a response in relation to that email. A few weeks later, I looked at the page for the DuMont television set that was related to The Henry Ford. Hey! Pay attention! The page had a change. It was now noted that the DuMont Television Network disappeared in the "mid-1950s" (and the "1956" was gone). So, someone saw the proof that I had sent, and, yet, the someone did not report the correct end date (September 15, 1955). So, the someone punted! [Note: The "punted" idea often is tied to politicians who are in public office, who keep failing to do something or try to pass along a problem to those who will follow, working to avoid having to do anything or being tied to anything.] The incident shows the nature of the history area of The Henry Ford, a museum complex based in Dearborn, Michigan. I tried to help The Henry Ford and make it one of the first big entities to report the end date for the DuMont Television Network, not necessarily because, for several decades, I had lived in Dearborn. When you go to The Henry Ford, understand it seems The Henry Ford is not like what it was in the 1920s, 1930s, 1940s, and 1940s, and 1960s. It seems to me, like so many other things, crap began to show up in the staff at The Henry Ford in the 1970s, and like many museums in the state, the staffs are loaded with bad history people and with socialists and the like.
Warning announcement! Because of incidents at schools for children and incidents at other places for people in general tied to "Sharia" or "Islamic Law" or even the religion/political system known as "Islam," I now regularly have this paragraph as a part of each edition of Michigan Travel Tips. The governmental system of the United States of America based on The U.S. Constitution and "Sharia" or, informally, Islamic law, are not compatible and cannot co-exist, and one reason is "Sharia" (et cetera) is a political system, in which there is one-party rule, and that one party is basically made up or controlled by religious leaders who base all the ways of their culture or society on "Sharia" or "Islamic Law." Those who uphold and practice "Sharia" have no tolerance for the existence of Christianity or Buddhism or Hinduism or non-religion, and that is a fact, and "Sharia" is a political system in which women are second-rate human bodies and in which clergy can be involved in determining business transactions, and there is no "freedom of speech" tied to politics in a society related to "Sharia." When you travel around Michigan and in other states of the country, watch for signs that rotten people are trying to teach you or family members, especially children, that "Sharia" is good and "Allah" is good and teach you or family members that the United States of America is bad and that, for instance, Christianity and Buddhism and Hinduism are bad, which I have evidence is happening and which is being brought about by people who are clearly working to make "Sharia" a dominant political system in the world (it is a political system as rotten as socialism and fascism and communism are, since it promotes violence and thuggery and coercion, and it promotes killing of non-followers behind the face of religion and a god, Allah). By the way, a society based on "Sharia" really creates nothing in the long run and does not advance the human society as a whole since it is too busy suppressing the ideas of people and keeping the ideas of the society based on ways of only a few minds up front (the political leaders), whose main purpose is to keep themselves enriched through the work of others, the many--it is a gang-run society really. Yes, if you run across people pushing the idea that Muslim stuff--particularly the true The Quran and not the translations of The Quran that are faked to hide the true nature of Islam--is better than the U.S. is, especially to little children, go public and make it known to other good people and fight back against it.
I do believe it is time to come back home to Michigan, especially given what the main purpose of this document is supposed to have. The warm season is about here, and, generally speaking, from May to October, many tourist attracts that were closed for the winter are getting opened up again, but I do have to say that some only go from the end of May to the beginning of September. At New Era, Michigan, you find a place that is open from roughly May to October every year, and for the 2024 season, it will be open from May 17 to October 31. You might not like it. Well, hold it! It is a nice and fun place, but you are probably too old for it. At New Era, that place called the Lewis Adventure Farm and Zoo, and the 2024 season is the 20th season for the place, and for twenty years, basically, it has been a place for children, and I would say that it is a place for children from about age three to age 15 or so. The Lewis Adventure Farm and Zoo is a great place to let children run around and do things and see things, and that is probably not necessarily something for you, but you should go if you have children. I do have to say that for you and for children, the place has a farm market and a bakery and food service. In the fall--roughly--there is a you-pick apple orchard, and an adult can sort of get into that it seems. The Lewis Adventure Farm and Zoo has a "Splash Acres" area, where water spouts shoot out of the ground, and that is where you will see a water tank. Little children can play in a sand-box like place, but there is not sand--there are cernals of corn. Children should like the giant slide and the "Black Hole Slides." As you should expect, the place has a petting zoo, and it has was it called "Bunnyville," the purpose for which you should be able to deduce. In addition, the Lewis Adventure Farm and Zoo has a bee hive to see, a giant swing, a spider web thing to crawl on or whatever, springy bull rides, and some games. Yes, there is an admission, and, usually, the hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on a Monday-through-Saturday basis and from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. During the season, the management has set up a few days in which the place is closed, and you will have to look for those days before you go. Generally speaking, the Lewis Adventure Farm and Zoo (at New Era) is sort of east of US-31 between Rothbury and Shelby, Michigan, or it is sort of along US-31 north of Muskegon. Go celebrate 20 years of the Lewis Adventure Farm and Zoo!
I close this edition of Michigan Travel Tips by urging you to see some of the rotten people in Michigan, which no other person might make you aware of. The edition of Television History and Trivia #240 was published on the Internet on the day that this document was published. The opening part of the television-based document has a section about communication, and it shows idiocy at Wayne State University, Michigan State University, and Grand Valley State University. The main theme is "Black English." People are working to make "Black English" acceptable, and I say that "Black English" is crap, since it promotes laziness and sloppiness in relation to the use of English, and some people have pushing that crap for at least 50 years. While "Black English" has been pushed, the ability of Detroit-based children (at least) to read well has gone to crap. To see Television History and Trivia #240, use this T.H.A.T. #240 link.
