At the time that this document was posted on the Internet, I had already nearly completed Television History and Trivia #180, which you shall see is a really special edition of T.H.A.T., since T.H.A.T. #180 dispels some bad history associated with television and the ventriloquist-dummy world, such as "Jimmy 'Skinney' Dugan, who was once seen regularly with Sagebrush Shorty on Detroit-based television shows in the 1950s and 1960s.  I had to get that out!  I could not wait so say something about T.H.A.T #180!  Let me try to get that out of my mind.  Oh, I have it.  The other day I saw a video on YouTube entitled "Why Adults Can't Develop Perfect Pitch" (posted on May 25, 2017).  That video came from Rick Beato, and you will find it pleasant and interesting.  I do not have "perfect pitch."  I do have an "ear" for good tone.  For example, I seem to have a problem with the voice of Carrie Underwood, such as when she sings the theme for Sunday Night Football.  Her voice irritates me.  Many people think she sings well.  I do not.  I wonder if Rick Beato has a video about why her singing irritates me.  Oh, she is not the only singer whose singing has a tone that bothers my ear, but I cannot think of one to name right now.  Recently, I saw a stage production at The Baldwin Theater (the home of Stagecrafters) in Royal Oak, Michigan, and the show was If/Then, and there were times when the performers as a group were on stage singing and I had to cover my ears--the tone was off for some reason at times.  Years ago, I was good at picking hit songs while at WAYN-AM Radio of Wayne State University, Detroit, and maybe I could pick the good tunes because of some type of musical ability that I have, though I do not sing and I do not play any musical instrument.  Having "perfect pitch" allows a person to name notes or chores when heard.  Well, that is that.  Here is another edition of Television History and Trivia.  [Note: Many of the actors were not good in If/Then.  Many of the performers came off a gay or lesbian, though they were playing "straight" characters.  When a character comes off a gay or lesbian, though the character is supposed to be "straight," then the actor failed.  Rock Hudson did not come off a gay, and other gay actors do not come off as gay, though they are gay.  By the way, I saw the director of If/Then at the theater, and he comes off as gay, and I state that the director--Rodel Salazar (who was about to finish some type of university studies)--failed, given many actors came off wrong.]

Hey!  Have you see any killers on television recently?  I have!  I state the U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (a hard-line communist and enslavist) is a killer!  In this paragraph, I show a bit of the crap that U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders taught on television recently.  On Friday, March 1, 2019, U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders was on the weekday television series called The View, which is hosted by a bunch of communism-supporting women, such as Sunny Hostin, and U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders said in relation to whether or not the "Green Deal" goes far enough--"No!  You cannot go too far on the issue of climate change!  The future of the planet is at stake!  Okay?...".  U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders is a killer of societies and free peoples, pushing lies and idiocy and pushing people into hysteria.  To learn more about the "Green Deal," see my document entitled The "New Green Deal"--The Progressive, Communistic, and Socialistic Plan to Kill the United States of America as a Nation of Free Persons and Individuals, which can be reached through this New Green Deal link.  You must see U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders as your enemy, as you should all communists and socialists--history shows what they do leads to violence and corruption and killings and death.  By the way, it was last year, that the prediction came out that man only has 12 years to save the planet from extinction, such as by getting rid on carbon dioxide (which plants need).  Should not have U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders said that we only have about 11 years and a half now to save the planet?  The planet is on a so-called countdown clock.  U.S. Bernie Sanders is insane and will lead to your death if you follow him and support him.

On Sunday, February 10, 2019, the Grammy Awards--an annual event--was presented on CBS-TV, and I have some comments about it, though I did not watch the presentation, purposely avoiding it, well aware much of what would be celebrated would be crap.  Here is an aside.  My real radio days as a disc jockey and more were from September 1971 to June 1977 at Wayne State University (particularly at WAYN-AM Radio at the university), and it was in a time when the good popular tunes were celebrated on Grammy Awards presentations yet.  In addition, it was in a time when pop or hits radio was on the way down; for example, the Canadian government--a socialistic entity--was pushing radio stations in Canada, such as the famous CKLW-AM ("The Big 8"), Windsor, Ontario, Canada, to play at least so much Canadian music each day [Note: That forced Canadian performers to not compete as much to get their songs on the air, leading to crappy songs being played by radio stations in Canada.], and rap music was soon to come.  On February 10, 2019, This is America (performed by Childish Bambino or Donald Glover) was named publicly as the "record of the year" for the Grammy Awards.  I learned about the win on the next day, and I heard a portion of the song in a news report.  Immediately, the song sounded like a partial knock-off of Once in a Lifetime (a 1980 tune from a musical group called the Talking Heads).  I went to YouTube to see the original video version of This is AmericaThis is America is a rap song.  I say that the song is crap, not unlike the crappy rap material that was presented by Travis Scott and Big Boi (a.k.a. Antwan Andre Patton) in the half-time show for the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 3, 2019.  This is America is something that listeners cannot really hum to or sing, and the song is violence crap.  I state that the song is something that will not be played in twenty years.  On Monday, February 11, 2019, I saw some of the so-called "fashions" worn by gals at the Grammy Awards, and no one "fashion" that I saw made a gal look good.  Another reason that I avoided the Grammy Award presentation is Michelle Obama--a hard-line communist--was going to appear and be celebrated, and, later, I learned Michelle Obama was paraded around by such persons as Jennifer Lopez, Jada Pinkett-Smith, and Lady Gaga, who are three rotten women really.  The Grammy Awards is political bullshit and a lot of bad tunes in this day and age!

Hey, have you seen an "geniuses" around lately.  The National Geographic channel has a series called Genius, which has already sold to the American public that Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso fit the bill.  Recently, I learned that Genius pushed out the idea that Aretha Franklin (a singer) deserves to be a member of the club of geniuses for Genius ( "NAMES+FACES."  Detroit Free Press, 12 February 2019, p. 3C.).  Such crap National Geographic--the entire entity--has become over the years and is.  Aretha Franklin, who died last year, was a singer, and that is it.  I ask--Why does Aretha Franklin deserve to be considered a "genius" today?  Aretha Franklin did a little bit of song writing, but mostly she made hits of songs written by other people; for example, Respect was written by Otis Redding, and Freeway of Love was written by Narada Michael Walden and Jeffrey Cohen.  In addition, she was a supporter of rotten politicians, such as former U.S. Representative John Conyers (of Michigan), who was sleazy, former Mayor of Detroit Coleman Young, and former U.S. President Barack Hussein Obama, all of whom supported communism and socialism and all of whom were or are black racists.  Aretha Franklin's financial dealings were defective; for instance, when Aretha Franklin died, she owned somewhere around $6.3-million in taxes and $1.5-million in tax penalties to the Internal Revenue Service (The Associated Press.  "Aretha Franklin's attorney says estate paid $3 million in back taxes to IRS."  CBNC.com, 28 December 2018, 11:40 a.m. ET.).  [Note: Here, I shall not talk about Aretha Franklin's delaying or balking at paying bills.]  Aretha Franklin was no genius!

On Saturday, March 9, 2019, at 1:00 p.m., I was in the middle of doing some "tracking" (research) on a television show hosted by Larry Sands in the 1962-1963 television season in the Detroit area, and the program was on CKLW-TV, Channel 9, which was in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, and the weekly show had Larry Sands acting as a host for the showing of movies.  I happened to have WJR-AM, 760, Detroit, tuned to the radio dial, and a little after 1:00 p.m., a radio program called MSU Today with Russ White began to air on the radio station.  That program is actually based at WKAR-AM and WKAR-FM at Michigan State University.  Hold it!  At the time, I was hearing the start of the program, I was sitting about thirty feet away from a person who had been at the WKAR-AM in the 1950s and who had been in the first television class offered by Michigan State University.  Okay, that covers the aside.  While I listened to the opening kicker for the episode of MSU Today with Russ White, I heard something that made me understand the program was going to present some crap.  I turned on a tape recorder.  The first guest was Eugene Robinson, who is a socialist and a writer at The Washington Post, a left-wing newspaper based in Washington, D.C., and he also works for the communistic MSNBC (teh televison entity).  The first bit of crap that I heard came from part of a question from Russ White about the state of journalism--"...the Fourth Estate is often under siege from the highest office in the land....".  Eugene Robinson, who was at the university to give a speech to students, came up with this collection of nonsense--"The threat--and I do call it a threat--ah, that comes from the highest office in the land right now is, ah, is, is an urgent problem that we need to, uhm, that we need to deal with...."   Right there, both men passed along lies and bullshit.  U.S. President Donald Trump has done nothing to stop the press to reporting whatever it wants, such as by threatening jail time or violence.  Eugene Robinson added---"...We do have a president who refers to us as the enemy of the people using a Stalinist-era phrase that's, ah, that's popular among, ah, dictators and tyrants...."  I have be involved with radio and television since 1971, and I have a degree in radio-television-film from Wayne State University, and, in fact, around 1967, I built a short-wave radio, while listening to, for example, rock and roll on WKNR-AM, Dearborn, Michigan.  I am well aware of the state of journalism, such as in relation to MSNBC, The Washington Post, and other big-name news entities.  You cannot fool me!  Many in the press are enemies of the people--the good citizens in the United States of America.  Together, as enemies of the people, Russ White and Eugene Robinson passed along bullshit and propaganda.  Also, Eugene Robinson said in relation to the state-of-journal theme--"...We will get passed that.  And I hope nobody gets hurt....".  The material that I have in quotation marks in the previous sentence shows that Eugene Robinson was implying that U.S. President Donald Trump was going to be involved in using force on press people.  That is truly a rotten tactic from Eugene Robinson.  Then, the two men got into the subject of sustainability of the newspaper industry, which was flap-doodle talk, a portion of which was designed to sell the idea that the newspaper industry is so great, though--I know--the industry is communistic in nature today.  Later, Eugene Robinson got into pseudo-intellectual nonsense, which I will not waste time on explaining--it was truly idiotic stuff. such as about doing the right thing (whatever that means to a socialist and communist).  I continued doing research on the movie show that was hosted by Larry Sands, and now I know the full range of airings for the show, but that subject will not be covered here.

Announcement for the novice again (reworked in May 2017): To get useful television-delivered news or Internet-delivered news, WorldNetDaily.com, "The Drudge Report," and CNS News (which is on the Internet and which was launched on June 16, 1998), since the entities do not blindly support Barack Obama-type people (communists and Shariaists), as do CNN, MSNBC, NBC-TV, CBS-TV, and ABC-TV (Note: To learn about bad journalism, you might tune in to CNN, MSNBC, NBC-TV, CBS-TV, and ABC-TV from time to time to see how they differ from the better places mentioned).  I note that Fox News Channel is evolving into a rotten channel, becoming like those that I have put down in this paragraph.  If you are unclear of my intentions, I say in different words that you should boycott CNN, MSNBC, NBC-TV, CBS-TV, and ABC-TV and even now much of what is on the Fox News Channel and hope they lose more ratings and advertising revenues, since they are expendable, and it is time for you to find the guts to be mean and heartless and cancel them--since they are hurting you.  [Note: Everyone in the Democratic Party in the country is rotten, and the Republican Party establishment has shown itself to be socialistic and communistic within the last few years, and only a few of the rotten people are U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell, Jeb Bush, and Chris Christie.]

Over the years, I have pointed out errors of history related to Detroit television in publications, such as in print or on the Internet, and this edition has more information about errors of history writing.  I begin with an article that appeared in the Detroit Free Press on Saturday, February 9, 2019, and the article was entitled "'Bozo's Big Top actor dies at 76" ("Bozo's Big Top" actor dies at 76." Detroit Free Press, 9 February 2019, p. 3A.).  One portion of the article was--"Larry Thompson, best known as 'Mr. Whoodini' in the popular metro Detroit TV show, 'Bozo's Big Top,' died on Tuesday.  He was 76.  Thompson began performing on the children's show in the 1970s as 'Mr. Whoodini," a magician who would tag along with Bozo the Clown's silly antics.  'Bozo Big Top' ran from 1965 until the late '70s, becoming a staple for many children in metro Detroit....".  I state that Mr. Whoodini was a character only seen on shows on Channel 9, CKLW-TV (Windsor, Ontario, Canada), which was across the Detroit River from Detroit, Michigan. Bozo's Big Top was seen on Channel 9 and on Channel 2 (WJBK-TV), Detroit.  Basically, in the fall of 1967, Channel 4 gave up the rights to airing the "Bozo"-type programs (which were produced at the station), and Channel 9 picked up the rights.  The man who played Bozo for Channel 4 started up a new program for Channel 4, and on the show, he played Oopsy the Clown, and that show ran on weekends (mostly) from the fall of 1967 to October 1979 (there were a weekdays showings, but I stall not report them here). Bozo's Big Top ran from the fall of 1967 to the fall of 1975 on CKLW-TV, and over the period, the actor who played Bozo the Clown the most was Art Cervi, and Art Cervi was Bozo when Channel 2 aired Bozo's Big Top, which ran from 1976 to 1978.  In addition, for a short while, Channel 9 also had Bozo the Clown (played by Art Cervi) in a show called Lunch with Bozo.  When Channel 9 had Bozo's Big Top, Larry Thompson did appear as Mr. Whoodini on the program, and that was in at least portions of the 1960s and 1970s.  In addition, from 1968 to 1970, Larry Thompson also appeared as Mr. Whoodini in a show featuring Mr. Whoodini, which was called Mr. Whoodini's Magic Shoppe.  Mr. Whoodini was not a featured character on Bozo's Big Top when the show aired on Channel 2.  And that covers that.  Now, let me take up more trouble with a book entitled From Soupy to Nuts! A History of Detroit Television, which was written by Tim Kiska and published in 2005.  I have talked about many errors in the book in the past.  This time, the trouble with the book covers a man known as Don Haney, and Don Haney is the focus of material on pages 115 and 116 in the book.  Here is the portion of the book (on page 116) that is troubled--"...Haney's People aired on Sunday nights between 1967 and 1981.  It would start at 11:30 p.m. and stop whenever Haney got tired--meaning the show would sometimes continue until 1 a.m. or later.  He also worked on the station's news broadcasts....".  I report that Haney's People was a talk show on Channel 7, WXYZ-TV, and it started out as a Sunday night program on Sunday, June 30, 1968, and on that night, the start time was 11:15 p.m.  Between June 1968, and April 1969, the show aired on most Sunday evenings, and the usually 90-minute series had various start times, such as 11:15 p.m., 11:30 p.m., and 11:45 p.m. on Sunday, and sometimes, the show did not start till early on Monday, such as at 12:00 a.m. or 12:30 a.m..  On Saturday, April 12, 1969, the show began to be run on Saturday afternoons, starting out at 3:00 p.m., and running for one hour, and the show was always a one-hour show till it ended.  Between April 1969 and when the show ended in 1976, the show bounced around on Saturdays and Sundays in the daytime, and it had a bunch of different start times.  On Sunday, September 19, 1976, Don Haney began to host Haney, which was a weekly half-hour show, on Channel 7, WXYZ-TV, and it was a talk show, and Haney's People as a title for a show disappeared.  Haney was on the broadcast scheduled for Channel 7 from September 1976 to December 1980.  On January 1, 1981, Don Haney was no longer working at Channel 7; he was working for Detroit Cablevision Inc..  And that covers that!  Incidentally, Don Haney died in 2015.
By the way, when I look back a programs in television listings, I can run across crap.  On March 28, 1970, a topic for Haney's People was about whether or not the 1970 census was going to be a hindrance to poor minorities.  To me, that is a defective topic.

Announcement: Recently, I have added some new documents to the collection of my documents at the website for The Hologlobe Press.  One of the documents is entitled A Document that Dispels Myths and Nonsense of Science-Fiction Books, Movies, and Television Shows (A Logic Puzzle), which can be reached through this Myths link.  Another document is And So You Think You're Going to the Moon, Mars, or the Stars..., which can be reached by using this Moon link.  And yet another of the documents is entitled And the Stupid Women Shall Lead--and Lead Every Good Individual into Shit, Driven on by Communism, Feminism, and Defective Female Beliefs and Little-Girl Thinking, which can be reached through this Stupid Women link.

On February 9, 2019, I watched the first broadcast of a football game related to the Alliance of American league, which was offered to Americans on CBS-TV, and while I watched I purposedly remembered the days of the XFL football league, the first game of which had been broadcast by NBC-TV on February 3, 2001, which pitted the New York/New Jersey Hitmen against the Las Vegas Outlaws.  Let me bring up something that a real guy would talk about (real guys seem to be disappearing in the country).  The XFL, which would die quickly, showed off cheerleaders, moving about and looking like women, and it showed off cheerleaders more than the NFL did at the time [Note: Today, cheerleaders are vaguely or rarely seen, which allows, for example, broadcasters and commentators of the games to keep running off the same useless flap doodle about who is going to win and what a team needs to do to win and such.].  A big problem that I had with the XFL broadcasts were the announcers.  The tone of the announcers was bad--they sounded like jackasses and jerks.  In 2001, announcing teams (of two persons or three) were made up of such persons as Bob Golic, Jesse Ventura, Matt Vasgersian, Craig Minervini, Mike Adamle, Brian Bosworth, Jim Ross, Dick Butkus, and Chris Marlowe, and often the reporting teams were made up of Chris Wragge, Fred Roggin, Michael Barkann, Stephanie McMahon, Jerry Lawler, and Dara Torres.  The Alliance of American Football game that was shown in Detroit had Spiro Dedes, Tiki Barber, and Trent Green in the announcing booth, and they did not come off as jerks, and the reporters seen during the broadcast were Jamie Erdahl, Kurt Warner, Melanie Collins, Gary Danielson, and Andrew Catalon.  People who watched the XFL often saw lackluster games, ending with such scores as 24 to 0, 23 to 6, 14 to 9, 26 to 25, 33 to 16, 38 to 6, 13 to 0, 23 to 18, 25 to 19, 35 to 26, 21 to 19, 27 to 15, 18 to 12, and 22 to 7.  The game for the Alliance of American Football league that was shown in Detroit on February 9, 2019, featured a battle between the San Diego Fleet and the San Antonio Commanders at San Antonio, Texas, and the score turned out to be 15 for San Antonio and 6 for San Diego.  The viewer was offered "Skycam" shots of the game, something which had started out with the XFL (and not the NFL).  The game had the feel of an exhibition game for the NFL, and it had some feel of a CFL game and an Arena Football game, and the quarterbacks had little time to set up to throw often and had a number times of poor targeting, but the Alliance of American Football game was not necessarily a bad game.

Since January 1, 2019, Channel 14.6. (broadcast) in Detroit has been airing a news network called NewsNet, and it airs constantly.  Basically, NewsNet is a product produced in Cadillac, Michigan, and it is a low-budget production.  The network has a very small on-air staff, featuring, for example, Remington Hernandez and Jessica Monjonnier as news anchors, Morris Langworthy as a weathercaster, Bejoy Joseph as the sports anchor, and Vic McCarty as a features reporter.  Basically, the network has segments that get repeated a lot--that is, a sport segment might run a number of times over several hours.  A lot of the general news has no importance for a person living in a particular area, given so much of the material is repeated and repeated a lot and given the stories about things are far from where the viewer lives and have no affect on the viewer.  If you want a general look at the weather around the country, the news network is adequate, and the sports stuff is sort of passable.  I think the network is a piece of fluff, which serves no real important role in the news business.  NewsNet is associated with CNN Newsource; NewsNet gets national reports from CNN Newsource.  CNN Newsource is one of the entities tied the national news network known as CNN, a communistic-type news network.

I have some quickies to pass along about broadcast network television.  A prime-time sitcom called A P. Bio returned to NBC-TV (the communistic network) on March 7, 2019, and the first episode of the weekly series was a boring affair with freaky characters or ugly characters--there was no laugh material in it.  A weekly one-hour series entitled For the People returned to ABC-TV on March 7, 2019, and like last season, the series looks like a hard-line socialistic series featuring mushy-headed young liberals involved in the law business.  Fox TV offered up the first episode of Proven Innocent on February 15, 2019, and the first episode of the one-hour series, which is set in Chicago (the communistic city), like so many other television series today, was a boring affair about law issues, and it focused on the Injustice Defense Group [Note: Think about "social justice" crap.].  And on March 4, 2019, NBC-TV pushed out the first episode of a weekly one-hour series called The Enemy With, and at the opening of the first episode, it was noted in a text statement that the FBI guesses that some 100,000 foreign spies are working their mischief in the United States of America today, and when I saw the text statement, I thought about how the federal government already has foreign agent-like people working in it, good examples of whom (women) are U.S. Representative Rashida Tlaib, U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar, U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, and U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, whom--I have determined--are enemies of the country, being pushers of either communism or Sharia, and I saw The Enemy Within as just another dark and moody series with characters, especially women, who spend all the time looking tough and stern.

Oh, on February 27, 2019, ABC-TV offered up the first episode of a one-hour drama series called Whiskey Cavalier, and maybe--maybe--some guys might find is at least passable for a while.

In the past, I have talked about how the television series entitled Empire (which is broadcast by Fox TV) is an ugly, ugly, ugly series.  It is gutter black crap.  It is gutter gangster-rap crap.  It is gutter people and situations.  It is killing and violence.  And then came February 2019, which was a "Black History Month."  And in February 2019, a performer on Empire, Jussie Smollett (a black of sorts, like Barack Hussein Obama, a perpetual liar and a communist), who is 36 years of age and is gay, ends up in the news.  It was reported that several men--who can be called non-communists or called conservatives--attacked the Jussie Smollett (a supporter of Barack Hussein Obama for U.S. president) and did bad things to him.  That was the claim of Jussie Smollett.  The main media people, such as Robin Roberts (of ABC-TV), a black and a communist supporter and a lesbian, made Jussie Smollett out to be great and a hero. And around March 8, 2019, people around the country were learning a grand jury had indicted Jussie Smollett on counts of felony related to his, for example, filing a false police report.  In the end, the incident tied to Jussie Smollett shows more of the nature of what drives the structure of the stories and programs that make up Empire--the cast and producers and writers.  People with non-ugly minds do not work with people with ugly minds, and the nature of the minds behind Empire is clearly ugly, ugly, ugly, ugly....

And on February 22, 2019, at about 9:33 am., I saw a crappy commercial on Channel 2.1, WJBK-TV, in Detroit, and it was during a program called The Nine.  The commercial was for Power Home Solar, a company pushing solar-based products.  The commercial pushed the idea that power companies have been involved in putting profits first over the environment or years and years and years and caring not for the environment.  Such crap Power Home Solar is!

Remember: The Prisoner with Patrick McGoohan was a television show that was produced across the pond and shown on CBS-TV in the late 1960s, and I urge you to find The Prisoner on DVD, maybe from a library, and watch it, and you should show it--all the episodes--to teenagers, or buy it as a present for teenagers.

Stay well!

Vic

P.S.: You are urged to see my document entitled One of "The Rules of Man"--A Rule About Health Care that No Politician May Supersede with Law, which can be reached through this Rule1 link.  I have deduced that all the Democrats and most Republicans support the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 and have no intention of killing it, though it should be killed for violating, for one, "The Rules of Man."  For example, Republicans Jeb Bush and Chris Christie support the rotten law, and that is one reason that I define them as stupid men and not men who are good enough--in this day and age--to be the U.S. President.  I note that the "mandate"--which forces everyone to buy government-approved health-care insurance--violates one of "The Rules of Man," and it is a rule that is attacked in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010.  Anyone who supports the "mandate" is not a good enough person or a smart enough person to be the U.S. president--the mandate is "enslavism," and the "mandate" allows government people--who are often and usually bad people, as history shows--decide what health care a person can get, and that is bad.
