Announcement

Section 212(f) of the Immigration and Naturalization Act of 1952, which is a federal law created by a U.S. Congress and a U.S. president, states--"...Whenever the President finds that entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate....".  On Friday, January 27, 2017, U.S. President Donald Trump, based on federal law, issued an order to temporarily--temporarily--blocked persons from seven countries of the world, one of which was Iran, a country the funds violent terrorism, from entering the the United States of America, and the period of time was set at four months.  A good person understands that the order issued by U.S. President Donald Trump was legal and right.  On Friday, February 3, 2017, U.S. District Judge James Robart (of a U.S. District Court) issued an order that U.S. President Donald Trump's order could not be followed, such as by immigration officers.  What the judge did was making a ruling that he had no legal right to do, given the wording existing in the "Section 212(f) of the Immigration and Naturalization Act of 1952.  Then, even though what the judge had done was wrong and has no basis in real law, the Donald Trump administration went to the 9th U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit (related to the U.S. District Court in which Judge James Robart exits) to get the judge's ruling shut down, and on Thursday, February 9, 2017, the U.S. Court of Appeals--particularly a three-judge panel for the court--ruled that it would not strike down or throw out U.S. District Judge James Robert's ruling, letting the ruling stand.  In essence, the three-judge panel noted that, for instance, aliens or non-citizens have the same rights as real citizens of the United States of America.  That is nonsense and idiocy.  By the way, the U.S. Court of Appeals also noted that the Executive Order made by U.S. President Donald Trump was racist (in a way) against Muslims, even though the Executive Order made no mention of "Muslims" and did not block Muslims from dozens of countries from all over the world from coming to the United States of America.  The entire event shows off only a little of the rottenness of the court system in the United States of America and people tied to the Democratic Party in the United States of America (a communistic-type political party), and it shows that the country is ending up with a precedence in which the courts will be able to make law about immigration (and other matters) and not a U.S. Congress and a U.S. president, and that is bad--very bad for good people in the United States of America.  Do you see how--now--a U.S. president, especially U.S. President Donald Trump, has been stopped from taking action to block bad people--non-citizens of the United States of America--from entering the United States of America?  Only a shit country has such idiocy, in which anyone can enter the country freely!  Then, on March 6, 2017, Donald Trump issued another legal Executive Order (having the legal right to do so) related in travel into the United States of America--it was another temporary ban on allowing people from only a few countries of the world in to the United States of America.  On March 15, 2017, a U.S. District Court Judge named Derek Watson issued an order designed to block the recent "Executive Order" from going into effect, and a big reason for blocking the Executive Order was that Derek Watson felt the Executive Order was a discriminatory based on what Donald Trump had supposedly meant in words spoken during the election campaign of 2016 and not on what the Executive Order said in words, and I report that Derek Watson showed off his rottenness as a person through the order given, and a few hours later, yet another judge U.S. District Judge Theodore Chuang) showed off his rottenness by issuing another order designed to help block the "Executive Order" from taking place.  The two judges are shit-head people and are enemies of good people--non-communists and non-socialists and non-Shariaists.

Hate the courts and teach hate of the courts to children--the courts are the enemy of good people!

Welcome to "The Pseudo Information Age and the Age of Ignorance", and it is even on television!

It is easy to find rotten people on television in this day and age, and, in essence, the rotten people are promoters of communism and socialism, and such persons regularly promote and push ignorance and lies.  By the way, the really big push to install communism and socialism into the country got going in the early 1900s, and a big promoter was Thomas Woodrow Wilson, who is more informally called "Woodrow Wilson,", who called himself a "progressive" (which is a cover-up word for communist) and who disliked The U.S. Constitution, since it blocked him--such as while being the U.S. president from 1913 to 1921--from being biggest man he could be (what I call an "enslavist," a man who has no limits imposed on him in what he can do as a politician, such as as a "dictator").  On Friday, April 21, 2017, I caught Sherri Goodman, who is a "Public Policy Fellow" at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, moderating a show on the DIYA TV network (which is, in essence, an India-related television network, which does have some English programming).  The one-hour show was an episode of an umbrella program called DIYA TV Dialogue, and the show, which began at 8:00 p.m. (Detroit time), had several people talking about manmade global climate change and rising sea levels.  It was all a collage of nonsense and idiocy.  The panel had Virginia Birkett, James C. Cason (the mayor of Coral Gables, Florida, who is a "Democrat" (a.k.a. "communist")), and General Merdith W.B. "Bo" Temple (a retired general, who is related to an entity called Dawson & Associates).  As I watched, I saw a boring presentation and a flap-doodle presentation; for example, all the members of the panel seemed half asleep and their talking was slow and unsharp, and while they labored to say something useful, they presented no real facts or no real scientific evidence showing that the rising in sea levels to the point of destroying coastal cities is imminent.  General Temple did push the idea that climate change is a "wicked problem," and Mayor Cason, who kept mentioning he headed a "rich" community, was looking for money, such as grants, to do "risk" assessment and "risk" figuring, and Mayor Cason pushed out the idea that infrastructure of buildings and roads and such is going to have change because the flood waters will soon gravely affect the coasts, such as where he works, and Virginia Burkett talked about disappearing "permafrost" (for some reason).  Oh, Mayor Cason said--"...We [his generation and such] caused the problem....".  Hey, I have to tie in the DIYA TV Dialogue show, which was an event related to the "Council on Foreign Relations" (a communistic/socialist "think tank," one member of whom is Colin Powell, a former U.S. general and close associate of Barack Hussein Obama, who is, for example, a "black racist" and a big promoter of communism and Sharia (a.k.a. Islamic law), with another show).  On Saturday, April 22, 2107, I happened to tune into CBS This Morning, Saturday (on CBS-TV) at about 9:45 a.m., and the hosts were talking with a guest named "M. Sanjayan", and one topic was the "Science Marches" (or the idea of "March for Science"), and the "marches" were related to "Earth Day" events.  Hold it!  "Climategate" proved people in the science community, such as some associated with NASA and NOAA, had faked climate data and were faking data related to manmade climate change--so-called scientists have been manipulating climate data and lying about climate data.  M. Sanjayan talked about how science is "only objective" and how "science matters in our lives" and how science is an "objective look at data" and how science is "self-correcting".  Hold it again!  "Earth Day" (which got started in 1970) is a holiday of sorts for the communists and socialists all over the world, pushing the manmade-global-climate-change idea. [Note: And you are going to try to persuade me that "Science Marches" are going to be tied to real science and not tied to communism and socialism and other crap?]  By the way, MIT (a.k.a. Massachusetts Institute of Technology) is supposed to be focused on real science, such as physics, and math, and it is supposed to be a place for "geniuses" and the like (such as young students).  MIT pushes this idea--"The MIT Campaign for a Better World" [Note: It sounds like a communistic slogan].  On March 24, 2017, The MIT Press released a book entitled Communism for Kids, which was written by Bini Adamczak (a woman who is a German) and was translated for English-speaking people by Jacob Blumenfeld and Sophie Lewis.  Oh, keep in mind--Bini Adamaczak is known as a "social theorist and artist" (which, to me, means she is a useless thinker).  Why is MIT publishing books about communism? And on April 14, 2017, the people at MIT were all thrilled it seems that Rahm Emanuel, the mayor of Chicago, Illinois, which is that place with a high murder rate, spoke before a crowd at MIT; Rahm Emanuel is a close friend and work associate of Barack Obama's, and Rahm Emanuel's brother was a big contributor to the creation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, and the two Emanuel are hard-line communists.  And I came across a video about "314 Action" on Saturday, April 22, 2017, and it noted how so-called scientists should get more involved in politics so that they can push the lie of manmade globe climate change in a better way and a more forceful way.  On the same day, I went to the website for "314 Action", and the first thing that I was exposed to was this--"We are members of the STEM community, grassroots supporters and political activists committed to bring innovation to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education, aggressively educate for real solutions to climate change and elect more STEM-trained candidates to public office.".  [Note: I do not see anything really related to real science in that quoted material--it sounds just like more hard-line communistic activists working to install more communism and socialism in the world.]  And when I officially entered the main part of the website, I was given this material--"When the voices of scientists are not heard, there is a price to pay." (which was stated as having been said by Janet Napolitano, who was the president of the University of California and who had been in the Barack Obama administration).  Hey, did your favorite national television news show give you footage of the "marches" designed to promote science on Earth Day (the protest rallies, really), and did you see the slogans on the signs held by people?  Television is being used by bad people to rally communists and socialists in the "science" field to be more political and push the lie of manmade climate change as true!  It seems to me, the idea is--Scientists, get on the communistic political bandwagon (with all your slogans), where politics comes before "science" really!

Over the years, I have shown up the problems with a book entitled From Soupy to Nuts! A History of Detroit Television (which was written by Tim Kiska and was published in 2005).  It is a rotten history book.  In T.H.A.T. #145, I talked about the book, showing up the bad information about Jo-Jo Shutty-MacGregor and the first helicopter traffic service in Detroit.  In Tim Kiska's book on page 181, it is stated--"...A Detroit native and graduate of Michigan State University, Jo-Jo and her sister (who is now an anchorwoman in Chicago) would appear on Milky's Party Time and Aunt Dee.  Fame would follow when she became the airborne traffic report on CKLW-AM.  Although a flying traffic reporter is now a routine feature on drive-time radio, no station in Detroit had ever done this before CKLW News Director Byron MacGregor tried it....".  As I noted in T.H.A.T. #145, the last sentence is way wrong (by the way, there is trouble in the first sentence that I quote).  The first traffic reporter working in a helicopter over the Detroit area was Bob Martin, who was a staffer at WJBK-AM.  The start day for that traffic service was May 12, 1958, and the traffic service would last for at least a couple years.  In T.H.A.T. #145, I was unable to report the model of helicopter that was used at the start of the traffic service.  Since then I have received information from Joey Rhodes, who is--for lack of better words--a Bell helicopter historian.  Joey Rhodes, who is tied to, for instance, the Bell 47 Helicopter Association Inc., reported that (based on a photograph that I had supplied him) the helicopter was a Bell 47J Ranger.  Recently, I stumbled across more information about a traffic reporter in a helicopter over Detroit in the past.   Jo-Jo Shutty-MacGregor was not even the second traffic reporter in a helicopter over the Detroit area.  On Monday, October 10, 1966, WXYZ-AM started up a traffic-reporting service using a helicopter.  This time, the traffic reporter was Barney Stutesman (of a business called Hi-Lift Helicopters), and, on weekday mornings, he reported during The Marc Avery Show, and on weekday afternoons, he reported during The Dave Prince Show.  Was Barney Stutesman the second traffic reporter in the air?  I cannot say for sure.  For instance, someone may have subbed for Bob Martin at some point, such as when Bob Martin was ill.  I have seen a photograph of the helicopter used for the traffic-reporting service on WXYZ-TV, and it looks like another helicopter in the "Bell 47" family, but I know not the model yet.  I know Jo-Jo Shutty-MacGregor was not the first woman to be a traffic reporter in a helicopter in the country; in 1967, for instance, Kelly Lange and Lorne Ross were "The Ladybirds" for KAGC-AM in Los Angeles, California.  Jo-Jo Shutty-MacGregor may have been the first woman to be a traffic reporter in a helicopter over the Detroit area.  Hey, Tim Kiska notes that Jo-Jo Shutty-MacGregor appeared on Aunt Dee.  That information is not quite right.  Dee Parker had a television series with several names in the 1950s, and Aunt Dee is not a full correct title [Note: Some day when I get around to it, I shall pass along the titles].

Channel 33.4 (which is related to Channel 33, WHPR-TV) in Detroit, is airing something that I will call "new."  The channel is airing a subchannel network of sorts called "Holyfield Black TV" (Note: WHPR-TV is a black-owned low-power television station).  Fronting the network is Miss Priscella Holyfeld (at least based on the website for the network), who is the daughter of Evander Holyfield, who was a big-time boxer in the country some years ago; she is called a co-founder of the network, and Constantine Kaldis is the co-founder.  The network airs movies and television series, sometimes quite old television series, such as I Spy, which was made in the 1960s (in April 2017, I Spy was being shown four times each weekday).  Some of the television series on this network are Rextra, I Luv2 Hustle, Magic Cellar (which is for children), On the Mike, In Search of... (which is an old series featuring Leonard Nimoy), Fighting Revolution Wrestling, Urban Music Report, and Broken Hearts Club.  Because the network is seen on 33.4 (broadcast) in Detroit, the picture is a little muddy.  Holyfield Black TV has only been available for broadcast reception in Detroit for about two months, showing up some time in April 2017 (it seems).  [Note: Priscella Holyfield called herself "Miss" in a message sent to me.]

The lineup of subchannel networks for people watching broadcast television in the Detroit area has changed in another way.  Some time in the first week of May 2017, The Word network showed up again, showing up on "38.5" (broadcast), which is associated with WADL-HD.  And a new network for the Detroit area showed up, and it is "Justice", and that channel is on "38.6" (it is a network that was fired up in the country on June 20, 2015).

Announcement for the novice again (reworked in May 2017): To get useful television-delivered news or Internet-delivered news, WorldNetDaily.com, "The Drudge Report," and CNS News (which is on the Internet and which was launched on June 16, 1998), since the entities do not blindly support Barack Obama-type people (communists and Shariaists), as do CNN, MSNBC, NBC-TV, CBS-TV, and ABC-TV (Note: To learn about bad journalism, you might tune in to CNN, MSNBC, NBC-TV, CBS-TV, and ABC-TV from time to time to see how they differ from the better places mentioned).  I note that Fox News Channel is evolving into a rotten channel, becoming like those that I have put down in this paragraph.  If you are unclear of my intentions, I say in different words that you should boycott CNN, MSNBC, NBC-TV, CBS-TV, and ABC-TV and even now much of what is on the Fox News Channel and hope they lose more ratings and advertising revenues, since they are expendable, and it is time for you to find the guts to be mean and heartless and cancel them--since they are hurting you.  [Note: Everyone in the Democratic Party in the country is rotten, and the Republican Party establishment has shown itself to be socialistic and communistic within the last few years, and only a few of the rotten people are U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell, U.S. Senator John McCain, Jeb Bush, and Chris Christie.]

Since I published the previous edition of Television History and Trivia, I got exposed somewhat closely to a old television show made in Detroit that I had no information about in my files.  It was an article in the Presque Isle County Advance (of Rogers City, Presque Isle County, the Lower Peninsula) that brought the television show to my attention (Jakey, Peter.  "Toy Store Provides a Downtown Spark."  Presque Isle County Advance, 6 April 2017, p. 3A.).  The article talked about David and Carolynn Walters (a husband-and-wife team), who had in November 2016 opened up a toy store called Mr. Mustache and Company in Rogers City, and the article noted how David and Carolynn had had a television show based in Detroit in 1977 and how the program is still on the air in a way.  I did some tracking.  The television series was a religious-based show that offered stories from The Bible, and sometimes puppets (such as those made by David Walters) were used.  The series began on WGPR-TV (the black-owned station) in Detroit on Monday, October 10, 1977, and the show ran weekly on Mondays at 7:30 a.m. till early February 1978.  On Sunday, February 5, 1978, the program began to run on Sundays at 2:00 p.m.  The last show was shown on Sunday, July 23, 1978.  By the way, the episodes were always 30-minutes long.  The program returned to the station--also known as Channel 62--on Sunday, October 29, 1978, airing at 4:00 p.m., and the show aired for the last time as a Detroit-based television series on Sunday, January 28, 1979.  The show was not gone forever after leaving Channel 62.  Soon after the show left the air in Detroit, David and Carolynn moved to Florida, and over the years, the program aired on, for example, WCLF-TV in Florida and on cable networks, such as CBN (the Christian Broadcasting Network).  On Tuesday, April 11, 2017, I visited Mr. Mustache and Company, the toy store at Rogers City, and David Walters and I talked a while, some of which dealt with Detroit television history.  Once the series was no longer produced in Detroit, it was no longer a part of Detroit television history--it entered the realm of syndicated television and cable television, and, here, I have no more information about when it was on the air.  David Walters reported that he married Carolynn in 1976 and that she has been a part of the program over the years.  Today, the set for their television show, which is officially called Mr. Mustache and Company, is at the back of the toy store, and one place the program can be found is on YouTube.  In essence, the program has been running (though on and off) since 1977, and that is about 40 years, and that is a long time, but the "Mr. Mustache" idea is older than that, having been created by David Walters when he was a boy.  If you want to see Mr. Mustache in person, you can find him at Rogers City, Michigan, and how he decided to open up a store in Rogers City is something that I shall let him tell you about.

In the previous edition of Television History and Triva, one topic was tied to M.L. Elrick, whose comments of March 22, 2017, had inspired me to put the topic together.  Now, I have to add to knowledge presented in the previous edition of Television History and Trivia.  Remember, M.L. Elrick said on The Frank Beckmann Show (of WJR-AM)--"...I have faith in the media.".  That statement I showed up to be rotten.
Here are more reasons to see M.L. Elrick (who is a regular reporter for WJBK-HD, Channel 2.1, Detroit) is a rotten man.  On Monday, May 1, 2017, I happened to see an episode of a television show called Overheard with Evan Smith, which was shown on the "World" channel (56.4, broadcast) related to WTVS-TV (the PBS-associated station in Detroit), and the show aired from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. (Detroit time)).  I did not join in on the program till it was already running, joining about the time that the topic was "lying."  At that time, Evan Smith was interviewing Chuck Todd, who regularly does news reporting for NBC-TV and MSNBC, both of which are communistic-based television networks (as is PBS).  One statement made by Chuck Todd is that he dislikes to use "lie" (or a related version of the word), because it makes everything so "personal."  Chuck Todd prefers to use other terms, such as "falsehood."  His idea is a bullshit idea.  "Lie" and "liar" are viable terms!  They should be used to describe rottenness, such as rotten people.  "Falsehood" is wishy-wishy term.  By the way, Chuck Todd noted that using the term "lie" a lot runs down the power of the word (when heard), and I say that his tactic of saying that was simply to get people to not use "lie" (or a related version of the word)--he was working to get people to talk or write in more mushy terms (less forceful terms).  Chuck Todd pushed forth the idea that a "liberal" op-ed page of a particular newspaper (such as The New York Times) does not denote the remainder of the newspaper is a "liberal" entity (Note:"Liberal" stands for "progressive" or "communistic" or "socialistic").  The idea from Chuck Todd is garbage!  If the newspaper has a "liberal" op-ed page, the newspaper is a "liberal" newspaper, since all the pages belong to operators, and the operators set the tone and structure of all the stories published (indirectly or directly)--if the operators (such as the publisher and the head editor) push "liberal"-op-ed material, they push the "liberal" tactic throughout the newspaper.  Here is an aside.  A "good" person--particulary a "good" journal--has a "bias"; that person works to show up "lies" and "cheating" and "corruption" and "fraud" and "misinformation" and "graft" and "embezzlement" and bad political ideas and all the other rotten things that people can do or be associated with--that is the "bias" of good person.  A bad journalist does the opposite of what a good journalist does--the bad journalist has a bias" tied to rotten things and rottenness.  On the program, Chuck Todd pushed out the idea that "all journalism is biased."  That statement is true.  However, Chuck Todd did not sell the idea that some "bias" is good--that which shows up rottenness.  During the Barack Obama years--Barack Obama as the U.S. president--NBC and MSNBC  (where Chuck Todd was working) pushed out lies about things (even doctoring true events, such as about the Trayvon Martin death) and covered up lies and lying by Barack Obama.  All journalists are biased, but only a few in this day and age are working with a bias that is good, designed to protect people from bad.  In addition, Chuck Todd said that people who accuse, in essence, him and NBC and MSNBC and like persons or entities as "biased" are "watching with bias."  His statement was designed to put down people who have a "bais" rooted in goodness.  There is nothing wrong with having a "bais" that is designed to tell the truth, and if a person has a "bais" that is rooted in discounting rottenness, such as lies, that is good.  Also on the program, Chuck Todd pushed the nonsense idea that if he did act in an unbiased way, he would probably lose his job.  That is more bullshit from Chuck Todd!  NBC and MSNBC are entities that have people that have bias that promote rottenness, such as lies, and NBC and MSNBC are not going to fire Chuck Todd because he lies--unless the "lie" is so big that it cannot be ignored and advertising revenue is hurt.  By the way, remember NBC-TV did have to get ride of Brian Williams a few years ago as the anchor of NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams (because he had gone too far in putting forth bullshit), but it did not kill his news career, as it should have--recently, he has done work for MSNBC.  Now, the anchor of NBC Nightly News is Lester Holt.  On the back cover of TV Guide for May 1-14, 2017, there was or is an advertisement for NBC-TV news, particularly NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt.  There is not much to the advertisement.  The big push in the advertisement is a quotation from Lester Holt--"Go beyond the headlines and you'll find people who are affected by what's happening.  Understanding their story is what matters.".  That is a bullshit statement from Lester Holt--it sells emotions and not facts, which has become the goal of television news (it seems to me).  [In the past, I have talk about the same theme being pushed by Detroit television stations in their newscasts, such as about feeling for and liking news anchors.]
And that is some of what M.L. Elrick wants you to have "faith in."

Do you hear the something rotten that U.S. Representative Joseph P. Kennedy III (a Democrat related to Massachusetts) said on MSNBC on the weekend of May 6, 2017/May 7, 2017?  He said--"...government's responsibility is, ah, a collective one, collective responsibility we as a society have to ensure that every single person gets access to, ah, not just a good job to keep food on their table and roof over their head but access to health care and an education, and we have the capacity to do that, and where we fall short we as, as a society has to make up for it, and the way we make up for it is called government....".  It is all nonsense, idiot thought, communistic flap doodle, et cetera!.  The quoted sets of words shows off the mind of a rotten man!   For instance, how can any government "ensure that every single person gets access to, ah, not just a good job to keep food on their table and a roof over their head...."?  What is a good job?  No government in history has ever been able to "ensure that every single person gets access to, ah, not just a good job to keep food on their table and a roof over their head....", and, in modern times, it never happened in the Soviet Union and it does not happen in China, Russia, Cuba, and North Korea, all of which have the type of government that U.S. Representative Joseph P. Kennedy III and the Kennedy clan have been pushing for for decades.  How does or how can government "make up for it"?  Where does the money come from?  Who sets the standards of making things equal or up to par or whatever?  Who has the "right" to take from people to give to others?  Joseph P. Kennedy III is just as rotten as his grandfather had been, who was a smuggler and crook.  Notice Joseph P. Kennedy III talked about the "collective"?  Who is the "collective" in his mind?  It is not the citizen!  To Joseph P. Kennedy III the collective is really the elites, like him--they get to make the decisions based on whatever there is in their heads, and the quoted set of words shows off what is in Joseph P. Kennedy's head.  In his mind "government" (a part of which is him) comes before "the people" (or "We, the people", which is related to how the country was formed), and "government" comes first in his mind because he must be serviced first and protected first.
[Note: A few decades ago, people were watching a television series called Star Trek: The Next Generation in the original run, and the series is still shown on television today.  In that series, one group of enemies was the "Collective" or really the "Borg."  The "Borg" society was nothing more than a communistic society or socialistic society or a Sharia-based society (that which is based on the nonsense that is "Allah" and Islamic law) or, in essence, an "ant society" (where there is a queen ant and the rest (worker ants, who are expendable)).  Oh, it is interesting that Patrick Stewart played the lead character in that series, and the character was anti-Borg, and, yet, Patrick Stewart--a foreigner in America, really--supports communists and such.]

Now, I jump to a big topic--maybe.  I often hear people say that funding for the arts is important or that the "arts" are so important to the growth of people.  I discount that.  Hey, did you see page 67 of TV Guide for May 1-14, 2017?  It had an advertisement from "The Creative Coalition"  (Note: When I hear the word "coalition" used in such a manner, I think of communists).  The big text of the advertisement was--"CAN YOU IMAGINE A NATION WITHOUT FUNDING FOR THE ARTS?".  Stop right there!  What the hell does that quoted material mean?  For instance, in the first half of the 1900s, the "arts" were thriving--for instance, there was vaudeville and movies and radio and Broadway, and the federal government did not have to use tax money to keep the "arts' afloat.  Now, companies involved in the "arts," such as the making of television shows and movies, want tax breaks and to be subsidize.  Okay look at more text from the advertisement in the TV Guide.  At the bottom of the page, it was stated--"America's arts programs are among the greatest in the world, and we must be supportive of these programs.  Public funding is important to help defend all the arts, especially those hit hardest by zeroing out government funding.  It might not hurt Hollywood, but it will hurt the local theaters, museums, and community organizations.  At a time of so much division, the arts bring us together and remind us what's great about America.".  That full piece of text is crap!  Let me jump to a related subject.  I think PBS should be defunded (with taxpayer money or so-called federal money), and I can give many reasons why.  Let me look at only one show.  Recent news reports have talked about a new character being added to Sesame Street (a girl with autism).  Have you seen Sesame Street lately?  Hold it!  I report that Sesame Street may have started out to try to teach children numbers and letters, but I say that Sesame Street has been a bad thing.  I say that Sesame Street has made children think learning always has to be fun and happy-happy and not work without songs and smiles (though work can be fun).  Recently, I looked in on the new or fairly new episodes of Sesame Street, and, basically, Sesame Street just looks like entertainment--what educational value the series ever had is gone.  The dolls and toys are everywhere!  The Sesame Street franchise makes a lot of money, such as for PBS.  There is no need for taxpayer money to be used to fund Sesame Street.  Hey, do not give me that crap that, without PBS, the types of shows aired by PBS would not be on television.  I know too much about television history to buy that crap, especially given how many networks exist today!

By the way, "free speech" does not mean, for one, that I have to pay money so that someone else gets to speak.  Around the time that this edition of Television History and Trivia was published, PBS-associated stations were airing a program called Age Reversed with Miranda Esmonde-White (it was a one-shot special).  One of the idiot thoughts pushed by the show--and Miranda Esmonde-White--was and is that you can reverse aging.  Bullshit!  Age comes and aging comes.  The show is another reason taxpayer money should be taken away from PBS.  Let idiots like Miranda Esmonde-White speak their nonsense all they like, but have them use their money or money not from the taxpayers.

I have another Looking at the Movies segment now (that is where I give you a suggestion for a movie to see, pretending you are seeing it when it was shown by Detroit television station at some time between 1948 and 1953 (when there were only three commercial television stations on the air in the Detroit area)).  For much of Detroit television history, television stations used umbrella titles for the showing of movies; that is, an umbrella title was like a show title that was used regularly.  For instance, Gladiator Theatre was once used by CKLW-TV, Channel 9 (which was actually in Windsor, Ontario, Canada).  Channel 9 was not on the air between 1948 and 1953, so I shall never be able to put CKLW-TV in the mix of showings for Looking at the Movies (maybe, I shall have to make some special cases involving CKLW-TV).  So far, I know about at least 200 umbrella titles for movies used between 1948 and 2007.  Today, by the way, umbrella titles are rarely used by the broadcast television networks and television stations (in relation to the Detroit area). On November 12, 1948, WJBK-TV, Channel 2, gave viewers a movie called Streamline Express (I have yet to tie it to an umbrella title).  Fortunately for you and me, that 1935 movie is available on YouTube today.  Two of the main performers in that movie were or are Victor Jory and Evelyn Venable.  What is nice about that movie is, at the opening, you get a clear idea who some of the performers are since they are shown with their names showing at the same time.  I saw the opening credits of the movie and noticed sometimes immediately.  A man named Jack Marta was listed as one of the directors of photography.  I knew the name, having seen it many times on television productions of the middle of the 1900s.  So go to YouTube, and pretend it is 8:20 p.m. on Friday, November 12, 1948. Streamline Express is your movie on Looking at the Movies in this edition of Television History and Trivia.

Remember: The Prisoner with Patrick McGoohan was a television show that was produced across the pond and shown on CBS-TV in the late 1960s, and I urge you to find The Prisoner on DVD, maybe from a library, and watch it, and you should show it--all the episodes--to teenagers, or buy it as a present for teenagers.

Stay well!

P.S.: You are urged to see my document entitled One of "The Rules of Man"--A Rule About Health Care that No Politician May Supersede with Law, which can be reached through this Rule1 link.  I have deduced that all the Democrats and most Republicans support the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 and have no intention of killing it, though it should be killed for violating, for one, "The Rules of Man."  For example, Republicans Jeb Bush and Christ Christie support the rotten law, and that is one reason that I define them as stupid men and not men who are good enough--in this day and age--to be the U.S. President.  I note that the "mandate"--which forces everyone to buy government-approved health-care insurance--violates one of "The Rules of Man," and it is a rule that is attacked in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010.  Anyone who supports the "mandate" is not a good enough person or a smart enough person to be the U.S. president--the mandate is "enslavism," and the "mandate" allows government people--who are often and usually bad people, as history shows--decide what health care a person can get, and that is bad.
