- - - T.H.A.T., Edition No. 60 - - -

Let us begin by noting a man--Patrick McGoohan.  This man was an actor.  This man was a director for television.  This man was a writer for television.  This man was a producer for television.  He was more.  Patrick McGoohan died (not passed away or succumbed) on January 13, 2009, and he was then 80 years of age.
I begin this edition of T.H.A.T. with a mention of Patrick McGoohan, because we seem to be in an age where people have forgotten the worth of the individual, and I believe young persons are not getting enough information about the importance of the individual in the United States of America or anywhere.  Given that, I recommend you get a copy of the book entitled Liberty and Tyranny: A Conservative Manifesto, which was written by Mark R. Levin, and read it and read it to children and grandchildren.  I also urge, as I have in the past, you also buy and watch The Prisoner television series collection, which is available as a DVD package, and you should show it to children and grandchildren.  (I have the DVD collection.)

The Prisoner was a television series that was the brainchild of Patrick McGoohan.  In relation to the United States of America, I look it as an extension of the series Danger Man and Secret Agent, though it is disputted by Patrick McGoohan.  For the U.S. television market, Danger Man was a half-hour weekly series produced in the United Kingdom and was originally shown in the the U.S. in the early 1960s, and when the series was expanded to a one-hour format, the show became known as Secret Agent, and, in both series, Patrick McGoogan played, in essence, a secret agent.  When Patrick McGoohan wanted to leave the series, he was able to convince a television-production-company executive, Lew Grade, on the idea of making The Prisoner, which was about a secret agent who resigned from his job and was kidnapped and taken to "The Village," a prison of sorts.

Since I first saw The Prisoner on CBS-TV in the summer of 1968, I have always thought of it as a series that can teach people about the evils of socialism, communism, totalitarianism, and the like, and I recommend the series to you.  Use it!  Learn!

I will have more on the subject in the future.

I consider MSNBC, the news units of the main broadcast networks known as ABC-TV, CBS-TV, and NBC-TV, and some news programs or talk programs of some other cable networks as no longer viable sources for political news, and, in fact, they have lost all credibility as sources of political news, and the reasons are many, some of which I present in the next two paragraphs.

Did you learn the following information about the quality of a man from the news sources noted in the previous paragraph?  Barack Obama reported in one of this two books that he used illegal drugs.  B.O. has kept secret to the public information about his school records and his birth data (the information has been blocked from reporters who really have tried to get the information).  B.O. presented lies several times during his first news conference with reporters (which took place on February 9, 2009, and during which he gave answers that can be described as rambling statements).  B.O. told lies during his address to the U.S. Congress (February 24, 2008).  B.O. said that, in essence, he would tax carbon-based industries heavily and make it difficult for them to do business and stay in business.  B.O. said that his push for a "cap-and-trade" system in the country would cause electricity rates to go way up, and the costs would be passed on to consumers (the "cap-and-trade" idea is a taxing system on carbon-dioxide emissions, though carbon dioxide is not a dangerous gas, as is carbon monoxide).  B.O. does not like the U.S. Constitution, as noted when he said that it is a flawed document.  B.O. removed a bust (a head) of Winston Churchill from his office area (a statue of sorts that had been given to the U.S.A. by England).  In January/February 2009, when the bill for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 was being put together, European countries got angry with B.O. for proposing trade restrictions in the bill and they threatened to start a trade war, and B.O. had to get the provisions removed.  B.O. said that he wanted to create and fund a civilian army for the country, and B.O. wanted the civilian army to be as well funded as the U.S. military.  During the presidential campaign (in 2008), B.O. put down the U.S. before an audience in Germany.  When the stock market was falling in the first three months or so of 2009, B.O. said that he did not concern himself with the ups and downs of the stock market.  B.O. said that he was going to stop the "booms and busts" traditions of the business industry of the country.  B.O. signed into law a provision (related to the "SCHIP" system) that allows the children of illegal immigrants to get medical care paid for.  B.O. has already told the U.S. military to cut back its budget by ten percent for next year (of course, B.O. is spending a lot of money on so much other stuff).  B.O. was instrumental in getting an executive (Rick Wagoner) fired from General Motors Corporation, and that means B.O. set a precedent--firing a person employed at a private company (and Barack Obama's doing what he did was and is a bad precedent).  B.O., while in France in early April 2009, refused to go to the "Omaha Beach" cemetery, where thousands of American soldiers who died during World War II when storming "Omaha Beach" are buried.
Did you see the news entities referred to this document put forth these thoughts?  B.O. has continually talked down the U.S. economy and business, and B.O. has never made talks that promoted the goodness of business and private enterprise.  Most of the time, B.O. uses a teleprompter, and when B.O. does not use a teleprompter, B.O's speech pattern is defective and B.O. has trouble putting words together into good sentences.  B.O. has ties to communists (such as William Ayres, of Chicago, Illinois); a racist reverend, Reverent Jeremiah Wright (of Chicago, Illinois); and a crooked real-estate-type man, Tony Rezko (of the Chicago area).  Barack Obama did appoint a man who failed to pay all that he should have paid in taxes for several years to head of the U.S. Department of Treasury (and the Internal Revenue Service).  [By the way, at least three other persons that he has tried to appoint to positions were shown to have tax-paying problems or irregularities.]  No one who heads a "department" of his cabinet has been an executive in a business or has true business experience (he has mostly surrounded himself with laywers, teachers, and former governors, and one woman is a known and self-described socialist).  B.O. wants a national-health-care system for the country (though national-health-care systems or socialism-based national-health-care systems are failed systems with the United Kingdom, Sweden, Canada, and Australia, and other countries, such as Russia), and such a system will certainly damage the health-care system that exists in the country today--which is the best in the world and to which people of other countries go when they are refused treatment by the defective national-health-care systems in their countries.  B.O. has paid no attention to the drug-war problem and drug-war shootings along the border between the U.S.A. and Mexico.  B.O. thinks "green energy" is the wave the future, when it has been shown in Europe that "green" technology like windmills is a failure, and countries, there, are going nuclear and giving up on their windmills, which are inefficient and are not cost-effective.  B.O. tried to get the banks in Switzerland to release information on U.S. citizens having accounts in Swiss banks (but the laws of Switzerland blocked the attempt).  B.O. appointed a man to the position of press secretary who is a terrible speaker or talker (the man is Robert Gibbs).  During a trip to Europe in April 2009, B.O. bowed to an Arab-nation leader, which should not be done, and put down and apologized for the U.S.

The quality of a man can be judged by the actions that he takes, the people with whom he associates, the people who he appoints to positions of authority, how he speaks, and how honorable he is, and the news entities that have been referred to in this document have glossed over or made no mention of the quality of B.O. over the last two years or so, and, in essense, the entities have betrayed the American public, keeping what he is unreported to the American public.

Incidentally, I can say that B.O. lied to and betrayed, for instance, the people of Detroit when he said that the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 was a job-stimulus package--since most of the provisions of the act had nothing to do with helping to create jobs, such as by offering useful tax relief to a wide range of small businesses in Detroit and other cities of the country.

And, incidentally, the news entities referred to in this document probably have not noted to you that, while the stock market was going down in late 2008 and early 2009, Barack Obama was doing things, such as saying things, that all people who have money invested in stocks or bonds of companies well realized were bad for businesses and investments, and Barack Obama was seemingly unconcerned, for example, all types of people--from plumbers to secretaries, from individuals of such and such enthicity to individuals of another such and such enthicity, from individuals of rural places to individuals of inner cities, et cetera--were losing assets in their retirement accounts and other accounts), and I say that Barack Obama purposely and heartlessly added to the unstableness of the stock market through his actions and enactions, and Barack Obama has shown he is williing to hurt all types of people, even, for instance, people in Detroit, and place hardship on all types of people, and I say that, from what I have deduced through what he has said in the past, it is the way of B.O., and you should take my warning to heart and be aware he could do it again and again.

Advertisement: Mark R. Levin of The Mark Levin Show (a nationally syndicated radio show) has a new book in publication, and it is called Liberty and Tyranny: A Conservative Manifesto, and you should see it (it was officially released on March 24, 2009).  [No one paid for the advertisment, but it is an advertisement; I put the advertisement here.]

And now let me present facts and data that do not get reported to you by the news entities of the main television broadcast networks referred to in this document:

I heard a bit of information on The Rush Limbaugh Program (a syndicated radio program) on Wednesday, March 11, 2009, and the information came from Fox News (particularly the Web site associated with Fox News Channel), and the information was posted on the Internet by Fox News Channel on the same day.  The information is that on September 11, 2001, in the morning before the attacks by terrorists in airplanes would take place in the country, James Carville (a Democratic strategist) was talking to reporters, and he indicated the he wanted U.S. President George W. Bush to fail.  The talk took place in Washington, D.C., and James Carville said, "...I certainly hope he doesn't succeed."  James Carville wanted George W. Bush to "fail."  By the way, Democratic Pollster Stanley Greenberg was with James Carville (and the story by Fox News Channel presents information about what Stanley Greenberg did).  In September 2001, the thought of James Carville received no coverage by the news entities of the main broadcast television networks (such as NBC-TV, CBS-TV, and ABC-TV).  In the first two months of 2009, the main media broadcast television networks that I have mentioned in the previous sentence attacked Rush Limbaugh because of Rush Limbaugh's comment that he wanted Barack Obama to "fail"--officially fail in making the country socialistic and ruining the country through Barack Obama's economic policies.  There is more evidence that the news entities of the broadcast television networks and such persons as Katic Couric, Charles Gibson, and Brian Williams cannot be trusted in presenting news to you.  (To see more evidence of my thought about trust, read other documents associated with the Web site of The Hologlobe Press, only one of which is T.H.A.T. #55, which can be reached by hitting this link: T.H.A.T. #55).

To date, I have yet to see detail documentaries or reports by the news entities of the main television entities referred to in this document so far that talk about the true set up, workings, advantages, and disadvantages (of which there are many) of the national-health-care system or socialized-health-care system of Britain, and that shows that they are defective news reporting entities, if not dangerous entities to your health and security, and so to help you, I say that, to learn about all the bad that is the socialized health-care system of Britain, you should see all the articles available through the Web site that I will call "The Problems with Socialized Health Care."  One way to get to the Web site is to go to The Mark Levin Show Web site, and look for the link that starts out as "Examples of disasters caused by government...." (which is on the main page); here is the link to Mark Levin's Web site: marklevinshow.com.  The document is at www.liberty-page.com (which is liberty-page.com) or is, more fully, www.liberty-page.com/issues/healthcare/socialized.htm).

Announcement: The telephone number of the U.S. Congressional Switchboard is: 1-866-340-9281.  (Use it to fight against the creation of a national-health-care system, especially a system pushed through law by a defective thinker, a man who has created nothing, and a man whose history is mostly filled with tearing things down, a man who continually puts down the U.S.A.--Barack Obama.)

On Monday, March 16, 2009, and on Tuesday, March 17, 2009, the upper-level Democrats of the Democratic Party who were in the U.S. Congress made a big deal about people at AIG getting bonus money (such as "retention bonus" money), and the whole event was a sham, given the contracts related to the employees at AIG were set up to give them bonus money, and it was Chris Dodd (Democrat) who created an exemption in the stimulus bill that allowed the bonuses (if existing in contracts that had been designed before February 11, 2009) to be paid.  Besides some quotes presented in my document entitled Nonsense Statements and Quotations of Barack Obama about this event (under the entry for March 16, 2009), here are other quotes from Democrats (of March 17, 2009) that were part of the sham to con the average citizen:
Harry Reid said, "...And so you will hear in the next twenty-four hours from chairman of our finance committee, Senator Baucus, that, ah, AIG, the significance of these bonuses will, ah, not be able keep all their money.  And that's an understatement!...."
Barbara Boxer stated: "...I think you're hearing outrage from all quarters of our society, which means we're going to do something about it, and, ah, I just wanted to make sure that, ah, I'm on record of saying those bonuses ought to be returned voluntarily and if they're not returned, they ought to be taxed as close to a hundred percent as we can get.  And I will be supporting that.  Ah, it's time to change the culture of corporate America...."
Barney Frank said: "...But I think we should look at it from the standpoint of us as the owner.  We're the.owner of that company.  In fact, now, there are some covenants that have kept from doing that.  I think the time has come to exercise our ownership rights--we own most of the company--and then say as owner, 'You know, I'm not paying you the bonus, you didn't perform, you didn't live up this contract.'  Presumably, the bonuses had some merit stuff in it.   In other words, I think we...."
[See the entry for March 16, 2009, of Nonsense Statements and Quotations of Barack Obama, which can be reached by using this link: Quotes.]

I have been watching ratings charts in Broadcasting & Cable (or Broadcasting) or Variety since the 1970s, and I have been seeing the ratings for NBC-TV drop and drop over the last few years, to where it it now in last place of the main broadcast television networks, and I think that is good, especially if people are tuning into more likeable programming and more unbiased news programs (the news and political-based stories of NBC-TV, like those of MSNBC, are to be avoided since they are biased or one-sided, unreliable, and so much like direct "mouth-pieces" for Barack Obama).  Oh, yes, I do hope NBC-TV "fails," and, of course, if it does, I would not be surprised if the network wanted federal-government money as a bailout, got federal-government money, and became an entity clearly tied to the Barack Obama administration.  Remember: Federal-government money is really taxpayer money and some of your money, and NBC-TV is in league with Barack Obama who is spending big amounts of money highly unwisely--to the point that the federal government could go into default and he could hurt the federal government and you!

It is time for information about TV Guide.  It now looks to me as if the magazine has now permanently reduced the number of networks reported on on Fridays and Saturdays as a rule; the cutback started with Friday, February 27, 2009, and Saturday, February 28, 2009.  That is noted "for the record."   (Oh, it was on February 27, 2009, that the last edition of the Rocky Mountain News (published by E.W. Scripps) was published.  In essence, the Journal Register, which owns, for example, the Macomb Daily and the Daily Tribune of the Detroit area, went into bankruptcy in late February 2009; in the past, I have noted how the two papers that are talked about in the first part of the sentence cut back in presenting television-program listings so that they could print more local-based "green" stories (which I noted was such nonsense).  Some other newspapers that have gone into bankruptcy recently are the Los Angeles Times and the Chicago Tribune.  Many say that the television news entities and Internet-based news entities are hurting newspapers, but I say that a problem that is little talked about is newspapers since the 1970s have been presenting more and more nonsense stuff, such as "green stories," and have lost the audience and what the audience really needs, such as facts and figures and true news.)

By the way, it was on Monday, March 30, 2009, that the main Detroit-based newspapers, such as The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press, cut back on home delivery (cutting down to no more than three days a week).

Well, something new and at least somewhat good has showed up for people who subscribe to, for instance, The Macomb Daily, and it is a new television-listings publication.  Last year, the newspaper had and then closed down Select TV, and now it has the new TV plus.  After having seen one edition (that designed for March 29-April 4, 2009), I can say that it mostly presents grids about what is being shown at what times on certain television stations and cable channels, and, for the moment, the publication is better than TV Book is, which is issued by the Detroit Free Press, and one reason for that is TV plus shows more day parts than TV Book does, showing, for instance, late-night hours.

Announcement: To get news, try the Fox News Channel and CNS News (which is on the Internet and which was launched on June 16, 1998).

The television-listings publications of the Detroit area do not give information about the programming available on the subchannels of television stations, which I will not complain about, even though it might be helpful to viewers, such as me, who has been more regularly watching Retro Television Network (or RTN) than, for one, NBC-TV, whose political slant is defective and whose tone is unlikeable, and some of the shows that I regularly watch on RTN are Matlock, Ellery Queen, and Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer (which was a series syndicated in the late 1950s that featured Darren McGavin as Mike Hammer), and also I have been looking at some old programs on DVD, such as The Protectors. The Protectors was syndicated originally in the early 1970s by ITC, which, in essence, was a company based in England and which had syndicated a lot of first-run series made in the United Kingdom in the 1960s.  By the way, I picked up a DVD with episodes of The Protectors from a library (I had not seen The Protectors in several decades), and it was more fun to see it than some new prime-time series, such as The Chopping Block, which has already been taken off the air after a few weeks of showings, and In the Motherhood, which is unlikeable and has no pretty gals for guys to see.  In The Protectors, which was and is a likeable series, Robert Vaughn played Harry Rule, and Nyree Dawn Porter played Contessa di Contini, and Tony Anholt played Paul Buchet, and the series was an espionage series, and when I recently saw the episode entitled "2000 Ft To Die," I was reminded that the producers implied Harry Rule had a sexy house-sitter/defense instructor Asian gal around at home when he was away, and she was named Suki (she was not a regular).  Here is a hard trivia question for you to answer before you see the next edition of T.H.A.T.: Who played Suki?  An actor named Anthony Chinn played the Contessa's driver/aide/assistant, Chino, and the closing theme, which was called "Avenues and Alleyways," was sung by a man listed as Tony Christie (who sounded much like Tom Jones).

Hurray for the protectors of freedom and liberty for the individual to be the individual!

Stay well!

Vic

P.S. #1: By the way, remember to tell your children and grandchildren that they should never pledge to be a "servant to Obama" or a servant to any president, which was a topic in T.H.A.T. #58, and remember to tell them to not blindly "believe" in leaders, and that is a lesson in this edition of T.H.A.T., as it was in the past and will be in the future.

P.S. 2 #2: I wonder if any television pundit will ask the question--What type of politician does the U.S. have who dislikes many people, has a lot of hate and rage within, has a mind distorted by the use of illegal drugs, sees himself as all-knowing and indispensible, has close associates with dishonorable credentials, and never promotes the U.S. and the private industry of the U.S.?

P.S. #3: Special announcement for Michiganians, especially Detroiters: If you do not read stories in your favorite newspaper or see stories on your favorite television news show about the "tea parties" that have taken place, are taking place, and are set to take place in the country, you will see that your favorite newspaper and your favorite television station is suppressing news--Americans are gathering around the country and protesting about taxes and other matters, such as the defective abilities and policies of Barack Obama.
